Aww, rats are cute! I'm gonna say that nutria are the least popularI would guess, just for fun, the lion or tiger is the most popular and the rat the least.

I've been reading some of the replies and I really have to spit this out:
What the $&@! does Mexican food have to do with this topic!!?
Interesting. I wonder what the most popular furry to be is and what the least popular is?
Really? I find the hero's lately to be the "tragic hero" which is flawed and morally ambiguous to be fascinating. The goody two-shoes Batman of yesteryear has been replaced with the awe-inspiring re-invented Batman who gladly plays good cop/bad cop within himself.
One of the reasons the last Batman flick was so wickedly awesome was because the line between the Joker and Batman was thin.
It's also a reason Dexter is so popular, imo ... and why the movie Crash was a rabbit hole I could go down forever and never reach the end of. Hero ambiguity appeals because we are ambiguous and not clear cut good/evil within ourselves.
Hell, I may not even be clear cut human anymore if I'm going to turn out to be part squirrel or something
I'm curious what kind of hero you're going to turn Pat into? Will the line be thin between him and Brad? Is he going to have to get "old school" in order to bring Brad down?
And the idea of flashing emoticons up on the screen as part of the movie experience is interesting .....
Hmm .... I'm suddenly craving a quesadilla ...
And you know ... even though now I'd love to know which one was you in the flick so I could watch your skillz in action ... I'll refrain from asking LOL
And by the way, did I say that I wouldn't ask which character you were in that movie? I did right? Okay good. I won't ask you which character you were in that flick.Nooooo worries LOL
Interesting. I wonder what the most popular furry to be is and what the least popular is?
I REALLY like the backstory there, about Pat's little joke that ... uh-hum .... "back-fires"Do not get me wrong, i am not suggesting a GOOD hero, just a strong one, for example, look at the newer friday the 13th film. It is really just jason having a good time. No one to really stop and give him any kind of pause. He just kind of does his thing, the movie is about him not the people trying to survive.
To compare, take a movie like, aliens. Where it is more about the people surviving the plague than the plague itself. And you have a hero worthy of the title.
Or to give a more single killer example, in the 3rd ( or was it fourth?) friday the thirteenth movie, when they introduce the psychic kid , and untill they screw it up, he is jasons main foe.
Pat as far as it goes, well to be honest i can only explain if i go into a bit of backstory. As i am not to worried about theft here, here it is. ( i would post a scene, but my old laptop is outside in my building and i am here in my parents where the good internet connection is, lol. )
So pat as a kid lived on a farm, and in so doing became a little bit of a gun nut. Nothing over the top, like he could make an AS-50 or anything, but there are scenes setting up him doing things like making a zip gun or fireworks. ( pat at this time is about 11-12)
So he gets an idea for a practical joke, he sneaks into an arcade and replaces the guts of a lightgun, with a single shot zip gun. Assuming that the next user will fire at the screen, blow it out, and it will be funny.
Pat waits around the next day for someone to use the tampered with gun. And sees a kid, not aiming at the screen, but miming shooting his friend with the gun you can see where this is going.
Pat tries to stop , but is way too late and is traumatized. A large trial is held and pat is put into detention , and barred from owning any materials for building firearms or explosives.
We don't know what exactly happened to pat ( well i do, but i am not telling ) for a couple years after juvinille detention. But eventually he moves into the town Brad is, very far away from his home, obviously.
So brad assumes ( when he finds this out) that pat did this on purpose, and the last thing i will tell you is that pat reacts very angrily to this. Which ( his anger) is pretty much the catalyst for Brad's turning to "stranger" for a friend.
As a character, on one hand he comes off as genuinely nice. But there is also a lot of things that get you thinking about how much of that is show. for example when we meet pats friends that are not the people that work at the thrift store, they are not exactly tophat and monacle type people. More like bikes and beatings.
By the end of the first movie ( yes this is designed to have a few sequels. ), you will be asking just as many questions about pat as you are about brad.
I don't know though if i would qualify him as an anti hero, but once he realizes whats going on, you better believe the first goal is killing brad ( and anyone else that may be helping him) helping people, comes a distant second.
A bit long , i know, and thank you for reading.
Dude I'll check it out ... and trust that it's not "the highlight" of your work LOLWell its somewhat obvious, seeing as my imdb pro gives people all my info, i care very little about personal stuff being posted. My name is Ryan, not Brain. If you need to know anything more than that, you shouldn't be on the jref, lol.
And skillz? No not a single skill of mine was in that movie, lol.
Go here and you can see photos from Further Confusion 2010.
Furry is one thing, but here's something truly perverse... http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/skins.png
Seems to me the discussion on this one concerned if one should take the fur suit off, or put the skin suit over the top of it.
I REALLY like the backstory there, about Pat's little joke that ... uh-hum .... "back-fires"
And the ambiguity and questions left unanswered at the end of a movie is almost always a good thing, so long as there is some resolution in the future for those who really want to know. There's nothing worse than a good storyline left in limbo whose questions never get answered(I'm thinking Carnivale, The Lost Room, and some other projects I enjoyed)

And on a side note, I actually was in the bookstore today buying a game for my kid and tried to find the Otherkin book, but no luck. I NEVER buy books, so it was depressing that the book I actually do want to buy in years is nada.
I'll have to do the Amazon thing (or perhaps torrent)
Or even simply creating an alter name for yourself and a symbolic online avatar
I've wondered if it would be possible to somehow "measure" how fantastical a person is in their thinking by how fantastical their avatar/username typically is. What I think would be interesting would be to compare avatar/usernames on, say, a charismatic Xtian forum and then a forum like this one.
I wonder what separates the person who portrays one type of persona online but won't parade around public dressed as an alter-ego to that of a person who walks around in an actual costume on occasion and is part of a group of costumed individuals, etc.
Lost Room was executed wonderfully, imo. The first twenty minutes or so had me thinking, "SyFy hokey," but I got into it pretty quickly. It was well cast also.Yeah i have both carnivale and the lost room, it boils my urine that the lost room didn't get picked up.
But yeah, if the first one gets made a sequel is pretty much a guarantee, and the plot is going to get thicker and thicker.
As kind of a side note, i got pat's backstory from a dream i had. Which literally left me waking up feeling depressed, lol.
Hmmm .... I think it might be because furries are ambiguous. If it counts, sadhatter is the name of the leader of the vampires when i used to run the Vampire the masqurade game in my city. And from time to time i dressed up as him.
You know, vampire, now that i think of it is at least as weird as furries. But you never hear people bitching about people who play that. I mean anyone else who dresses up weird gets crapped all over, even other Larpers, but i have never directly seen someone take on vampire. ( which on occasion would have the odd person dressed as a werewolf, tiger, spider, pretty much any were whatever. Though, they were more fearsome/gross than sexual. Me as a were spider was not anything someone would want to do, lol. But this will just lead me into my anti twilight rant so ....moving on. )
Lost Room was executed wonderfully, imo. The first twenty minutes or so had me thinking, "SyFy hokey," but I got into it pretty quickly. It was well cast also.
And Carnivale! Oh Jeebus don't get me started on Carnivale! I will admit, that it dragged on a little bit too much at times. But the tone, the mood, the setting, the players, the mythos, everything .... was classic magic.
And I'm a sucker for carnival related stuff anywayRemember Something Wicked This Way Comes? Man I loved that as a kid ... it's lost some of it's spook factor over the years, but if you're like ten years old watching it .....
Hmmm .... I think it might be because furries are ambiguous.
Vampires are generally straightforward ... dark, gothic, either toying with evil or evil. Same goes for comic-cons. Those who dress up are generally straightforward characters. The good guys are good, the bad guys are bad.
But when it comes to clowns ... you just don't ******g know. Perhaps it's the same with the furries. It's like, "WTF? Is there a serial killer under there or a kid at heart? Is it a loon that's going to think they are something neutral in life like a squirrel and not a predator?" So maybe it's because it's mixing things that "shouldn't be" ---- possibly sinister adults in kiddy and cartoon like costumes.
IDK ...
