Looking for Skeptics

The easier option what I have suggested is this... If I was to record myself holding a note (tune) using either an instrument or vocals, for 15 seconds. On playback one would expect to hear 15 seconds of that note/tune. Should the note/tune fade out and disappear within seconds, it could be considered a technical hitch but, if I was to hold the note and create a drum noise at the same time, and the note fades out and disappears whilst the tapping noise remains throughout, then this will certainly rule out any "technical hitches"

Who decides if a fade-out has or has not occurred? Which computers are acceptable for testing playback? How is the original recording maintained for comparison? If the recording is determined not to have experienced a cut-off, has your claim been dis-proven? If not, what outcome of your test would falsify your claim? What objective standard determines if the recording has been altered?

flaccon, where are the reports from the other investigators or the journalists who were supposedly looking into your case as well, so that we may weigh what they have to say against the skeptical investigator's report?

As of now, based on what you have presented here and on the ASKE report, I continue to believe you are reporting nothing more than just pareidolia.

This is what I would say.

Not if the tapping noise was being caused by some "technical hitch" at the playback stage (for example "special fingers" holding the cables).

Yes, flaccon, what happened with the journalist who was going to get your story into the newspapers?

Thanks. I uploaded your file to the same site and got the same hash:

I use two instruments (drum and horn) The spirits seem to be working well with vibration. I record both instruments being played simultaeniously. The drum beat will remain constant, whilst the horn noise will fade out and disappear within seconds.

The Paranormal evaluation is as expected. I had initially reported that it was not a standard haunting, and that my home was not being haunted, and therefore their equipment would be of no use. (their equipment being of no use was admitted at some point in their evaluation) I'd reluctantly called in the Paranormal team at the suggestion of the news reporter who could not get an angle on the case. He managed to sit through the evening, and admitted this "I just don't like it when they call my name out" He has not been heard of since, despite many weeks of myself and the paranormal team trying to contact his office, messages were left and ignored. Their evaluation is now prepared and ready for the news reporter to pen up a story. I doubt he can but I wish him the best of luck regarding his ignorance.

Final section of the evaluation reads.. "As seasoned paranormal investigators and researchers, we have never encountered such an eclectic mix of paranormal experiences that span several area from haunting to UFO...

..Therefore we advise that the client tries other avenues in the paranormal field, that may be able to get a better grasp on what is actually occuring. A possible avenue, may well be getting in touch with the "Church of Scientology" or of a similar organisation. There are several in the UK, one being in Manchester. The reasoning behind the suggestion, is that the case is steeped with religious connotations, and "beings" sending signals from an unknown source... (Amen :)

It is with regret that we cannot carry this case to its fruition, as this is the first case we have not brought to its conclusion, but we wish you all the best.."

My take is, the "eclectic mix" is only being considered "eclectic" due to man's long-standing theories, which has created lots of red tape and actually leaves no room for any real understanding that the paranormal, the supernatural and Ufology seem to be tied in together.

(Yes sorry, the meet with M was "hours" not "minutes")

Am I the only person who is a little disappointed in the investigation? It relied purely on people declaring whether or not they could hear changes in the audio. This thread, with it's cryptographic hash functions actually contained more thorough and more scientific testing of the claims.

There hasn't been an investigation as such. I imagine a proper scientific investigation can only be carried out if I can demonstrate "something" that cannot be explained using any text book theories.

I'd like to hear some theories here as to why when I record two instruments at once, does one instrument cancel itself out during playback, leaving just the noise of one instrument being played. Any idea's on this?

How incredibly disingenuous of you. You've side-stepped, dodged and ducked every attempt that has been made to have you agree a robust protocol and submit your continuing fantasies to any kind of real scrutiny.

A scientific investigation needs to first find out if there is such a "something". The investigation using MD hashing that was done earlier in this thread was just such an investigation; the results were negative.

You lack of expertise in making sound recordings would be my guess. Getting the mix right so that the different instruments can all be heard requires a lot of it.

Is there any way for an independent listener to confirm that both instruments are on the original recording before the spirits do whatever they are supposed to do to remove one instrument from the recording?

Please remember that many PC microphones are designed to pick up human speech. Hardware and software features work to filter out noise. It would not be all that surprising if the recording of one steady tone quickly filtered it out as part of the background leaving the microphone struggling to find anything that it thought wasn't.

I'd like to see some evidence that this phenomenon is real. Without that there's no reason to speculate.

I disagree with the conclusions of that group- just about the last thing flaccon needs is to get involved with Scientologists.

Also, I'm glad the meeting with the ASKE wasn't as originally reported, but rather of 90 minutes' duration.
