Looking for Skeptics

Who knows?
You might be on the threshold of accessing a tidy little money-spinner there!
It's a bit of an extreme length to go to, but as I think of it, just last Sunday I helped a neighbour clear her garage and accumulated the inevitable nicks and grazes involved in such a task. I should have had a handy towel around to test with. Never thought of it.

Xterra knows my name and I doubt anyone else does so he can verify it. Can the spirits tell you my name?

HOLY ****** The spirits told you my name!!!

Poorly written, sincere letter to flaccon:

Dear Tracey,

This is usually the part where a member either storms off, often getting banned on purpose, or slowly takes the time to ask questions and proceed toward an understanding of what on earth is really happening.

I am sure that I speak for the skeptics on this site (only this once) when I say we would very much prefer that you take the latter route. Here you can make friends and learn much more about the magnificence of the real world.

A world without real magic, miracles and spirits is not the cold world depicted by charlatans. It is a world full of great discoveries, indescribable beauty and love. It is just as awesome as any fantasy world, except that it’s real.

Life can and will be cruel. Indiscriminately. The good suffer. The bad have a ball. Justice is a human product. This only means our job should be to make it as pleasant for all as we can. All we have is each other.

Fantasies can make the cruel world a more welcoming, caring universe. But is that a good thing? Death sucks. Losing loved ones is an excruciating experience for all. But we move on. We move on with great memories and we move on with a new outlook.

This post may be a bit premature, but I want you to know that I find you very charming and this has been my favourite thread ever. I have appreciated your sense of humour and the way you’ve shown you can take a joke. I hope you will stay and I look forward to discussing with you other interesting topics on different threads.

For me, personally, the world makes a lot more sense since I have shed my beliefs in phenomena that have proven not to exist. I see beauty in art, and indeed in the physical world itself, in a much more glorious light. Because the world is ours. We are a part of this universe as much as the stars are. In fact we are literally made of material that was cooked up in the center of stars.

No fantasy can make it better, warts and all.

[I should leave this sort of rambling to poets, but I had this urge to tell you how I felt.]

Love,

André.

Seconded. Brilliantly said.

Yes, one of those very clearly has voices (and chirping) on it.

Sadly, you haven't convinced me that's not just a recording of people talking. I mean, one of them is you for goodness sake, and there's a pet budgie chipping in it's tuppence worth.

PS Do you keep a budgie?

I might purchase one and say yes so you don't ask me this question ever again.

I'm torn. I do believe the second person makes the woman repeat what she said. I also took away the idea that there was a pick up mentioned, as well as, rather clearly, "on time". But I don't see how we wouldn't pick up on the rest.

I can't escape the German "r" by the second man. Could be a bilingual conversation, I've had a million of those. Could a German speaking member not confirm or deny this?

I still think Pillory should be our translator on this thread. :D

The woman (me) I'm sure she says "Hyden" right at the beginning, then somewhere he says "I'm Hysen" is that a German name? Even if it is considered a fake recording, can you hear a different angle on his voice near the end? like an echo or something odd.

Its not fake.

The woman (me) I'm sure she says "Hyden" right at the beginning,
What? You can't even tell what you said? For real? You are talking about yourself in the third person?

then somewhere he says "I'm Hysen" is that a German name?
Yes it is a real surname, you got the country wrong. You couldn't even make the effort to google it.

Even if it is considered a fake recording,
It is not fake, it is simply a collection of artefacts which you are interpreting according to your beliefs.

can you hear a different angle on his voice near the end? like an echo or something odd.
No.

Its not fake.
Nobody said it was. I am fairly sure where you get these noises from. After that, it is simply a matter of how you interpret these noises. The origin is irrelevant. The interpretations are purely in your head.

Of course, I could be certain if only you would answer direct questions, but you steadfastly refuse to do so.

Could you explain why a religious funereal service, or even two of them, makes pareidolia a thing the Church should investigate?

I keep explaining, but I'm up against hallucination, and mass hallucination? (cos got lots of witnesses) Placebo treatment through the 20 years from doctors, priests, Bishops, friends, family, strangers. Paredolia (visual & audio) Delusional, trickster, liar, disturbed, and I'm sure someone also mentioned bipolar? .. dno. :)

Thanks for clearing that up, flacccon.

Your welcome.

This means Youcam isn't the only way the noise can be transmitted?

Yes, tried and tested. I need a new laptop. This is my third computer they've gotten into.

I don't mind being ignored here (well, ok, a little :)) but I thought my post 3783 was important. Nobody (except a PM) apparently gave much of a damn to the issue of whether the continuation of this thread is doing more harm than good. So maybe I'm off base. Am I?

There are no spirits in any of those recordings - the voices you hear are a combination of pareidolia and artefacts generated by the software. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, even if it is the truth.

We tried - flaccon is insistent that it is not hallucinations or delusions. We've raised this point time and time again, but it's fallen on deaf ears. Personally I think that testing her claim(s) rigorously might help her find the truth about them. Either that or we waste a lot of time and go around in circles while flaccon sticks her fingers in her ears and screams lalalalala I cannae hear you.

Still it's interesting for me - I learnt new things like what an MD5 Hash was (no, it's not a pointy leaf smoked by art students and hippies :D), that software can create artefacts, how to publish files on Teh Interwebz(TM) and how people can deceive themselves so much that it boggles the mind.

From my end, I don't see how we did much harm, but your posts seem to come at the right time. There is not much left to do. Continuing ad vitam aeternam would certainly do more harm than good.

I apologise, so. I read it and agreed with it, and responded (not directly) so a late applause is in order, and mea culpa for not so doing. I beg the excuse of squeezing in faffing about with the crapware as sufficient distraction.

The other problem is that we have to take flaccon's word that it's not her shouting at some bloke. If it was done in a controlled situation, we could rule that out. Unfortunately, in science people's word isn't worth anything compared to a controlled environment.

No one is going to take my word for any of it, I expect it, who would? I wouldn't.

I was in a quiet place in a private room, alone. The recording on playback was the usual overlapping of words (hardly heard) The sentences on there now were added a few weeks ago.
