That's exactly what I heard too!
Soundcloud wouldn't download for me but I did manage to download Audacity. No extra volume is necessary now. Can I ask, is there such equipment that can single out one of the voices?
That's exactly what I heard too!
Better yet, once you open Audacity, click on the Generate tab and in the drop down box click on "Silence". A box will open up that lets you set the duration. After you set the duration, click on "OK". You will now notice a long straight line of nothing. Save this as a file or project.
That's a good suggestion.
Flaccon: listening to random noise and telling people what words you think you can hear in it won't prove anything, any more than telling us what pictures you imagine you can see in those stains proves anything. Even hearing words in random noise ourselves won't prove anything, this happens to us all the time, because we also have imaginations. The kind of tests we're proposing are not 'big' tests, they're simple little tests - the simplest and littlest which are adequate to demonstrate that you can get information from the spirits which you couldn't otherwise obtain. And that's the minimum you need to do to convince anyone - including yourself - that there's more going on than be explained by pareidolia and interference.
And I would feel a lot more comfortable about travelling to Chester and/or encouraging my local SitP group to invite you as a speaker if you would share some examples first.Straycat, when Alderbank and Pixel hear/speak with the spirits, and if they both agree that an investigation is worthy, I'll send out file after file a lot more comfortable than I would feel now.
That has yet to be established. We know how you're choosing to interpret what you're hearing, we're trying to find out if your interpretation is correct. Its not random noise though, it's voices all trying to be heard.
Most definitely. I am as subject to pareidolia as you, or anyone else.Your vey welcome to test them, and listen in for answers if you wish to. But, if you hear sentences with your name in them, replying to you, would a colour-test be necessary?
Then you still haven't grasped the nature of pareidolia. My confusion is right there
As you say it wouldn't prove anything, especially as the sound quality over a phone line is so poor.Anyone wishing to ring me and listen in are welcome. Not that it proves anything just now, other than voices are present, but the offer is there.
Please don't take this the wrong way Flaccon, but for reasons of my own privacy and security, I'm not comfortable with giving out my personal contact details to strangers on the internet. Which is why I originally suggested you upload the files to Soundcloud and PM me a link, that way both our privacy is kept intact.
I may start to feel different about it if/when any contact is made by other people who have offered and proven to not be problematic for them, but at present you are a potential internet nut and I'd no more want to give you my contact details then I'd want to give them to a crazy cat lady who shouts at lamposts.
Having said all that, my offer to listen to and examine your files on my studio equipment still stands if you wish to upload them to Soundcloud or a similar site and just send me a link via PM. Soundcloud is completely free of charge and isn't complicated as it accepts many different file types and converts them to mp3 for you.

I think we're all pretty sure you're genuine, but there are a lot of nutters on the internet and it's wise to be cautious.Straycat, if I was an internet nut, searching for business with a very bizarre story, why would I be here touting for business? with a story that would only work with an idiot. Makes no sense unless its genuine.
Why don't you ask the spirits what my name is?You all know about me, my landline is [SNIP]. My name is Tracey, I work in the Antiques trade, and I have 3 lovely children. Why don't you ring me, using 141 to block your number being revealed?

Flaccon, I'm sure you believe you are genuine and a very nice and sincere person. But what if I'm a psychopathic stalker?Straycat, if I was an internet nut, searching for business with a very bizarre story, why would I be here touting for business? with a story that would only work with an idiot. I do hope the mods are sensible enough to remove your personal details if you don't do it yourself. You all know about me, my landline is XXXXXX Chester. Then I just might.
When the noises die down here I will do yes, interesting test. I live next to a cow field, the birds and tractor's are picked up easily. I wont force evidence on anyone, I'm just saying, it's here when your ready to trust.
None of us know who Alderbank is either, their posts on this thread are their first despite having been a member for a couple of years. For all we know he/she is a nut (no offence, Alderbank).Alderbank will come, and maybe we can get over the first hurdle, which is, Am I a really a nut, or am I touting for business with "skeptics" with a daft story, spanning 20 years (I'm sure all previous experiences will have been privately documented) If Alderbank reports that there is nothing worthy of an investigation, I will apologise to you all, and respectfully leave this site.
Excellent. When the noises die down here I will do yes, interesting test. I live next to a cow field, the birds and tractor's are picked up easily.
No one is going to trust the evidence until you've presented some for us to examine. At present you say you want to share this stuff but you do nothing to ensure that can happen. When the noises die down here I will do yes, interesting test. I would like to hear more of what the voices have already said. Not just generally, but what they've actually said, the words they used.
If I am just a nut, or someone suffering some sort of after-effect of Paredolia, please understand that I am still of sound mind, enough to be fully aware of "consequences" I have weighed up serious consequences, and as much as I value my life/sanity/privacy, there are things far more important.
13 years ago I was dying my hair. I had just purchased my first computer and was thinking of an online name to use for a Hotmail account. As I read the instructions, I noticed the word "flacon" it stood out with a smear or something, and I thought to use it. I wrote it down "flacon@hotmail.com. My @, was a squiggle that shot over the n.
Yes I reckon they can. Before making this offer on the Forum, Flaccon PMd me to ask for information about me and I volunteered enough for the spirits to Google me quite easily. This is a good potential test. The spirits seem to know something about Alderbank and Pixel42. Can they tell you their real names?

I'm ready to trust.
It's the right sort of idea in that there's no way that anyone could obtain this information except via the paranormal (other than a very lucky guess), but there's no reason to think that spirits can see the future even if they do exist, so there's an obvious excuse if they fail. What does everyone think?
