Looking for Skeptics - Continuation (Cassidy's EVP/diamond damage claim)

Then do you have any alternative reason as to why the noise of the rainfall and the noise of the ceiling fan would completely disappear (twice) during playback? If something is described as "constant" I can accept human error, but does that account for why the noise of the rainfall and the noise of the ceiling fan, would both cease to be recorded? (just leaving those familiar blips behind)

The MD hash didn't alter, yet rainfall doesn't just stop at exactly the same time as the fan stops (twice during a short recording)

The MD hash is an objective, reliable measure of file change. Your perceptions are subjective, unreliable measures of anything. The files demonstrably didn't change. Every objective standard that's been applied to your paranormal claims (MD hash, card test) has conclusively shown exactly the same thing: no paranormal activity. None. Zero.

This is why trying to help Cassidy with a protocol is pointless. She does not have a point at which reason and logic can give her pause.

I'll say this again: There is no point at which you can be sure she will accept herself mistaken.

There is no reason. There is no logic. There is no technique. There is no education.

No matter how you tie it down, once the signal gets to her mind, the spirits start nattering away. You can show, to mathematical perfection, that input = output, but she will still discern the stuff she does.

There is no way you can change her predetermined mind.

Correct.

What are we hearing here?

That hum is easily reproduced by partially unplugging your speakers or having a dodgy speaker connection or touching an exposed audio wire. Its also mains frequency. Plugging in correctly, or wiggling the dodgy wire or ceasing to touch the exposed wire makes it go away. Bear in mind that in the previous incarnation of this thread, Cassidy stated she was manually manipulating the actual cables.

I'll save everyone some time. Cassidy will fail and cite the reason as either the spirits being weak that day or some other frivolous excuse.

She will fail a proper test miserably, then claim the "spirits' have been confirmed because no one was able to explain, to her satisfaction, why she and her friends see and hear things that actually aren't there.

What would it take to cause you to admit that you had failed?

I have asked her this exact question, over and over and over... for years. I have asked her, in many different ways, what objective evidence would convince her her paranormal claims are wrong. What testable result would contradict her claim.

The answer is none.

I just tried to upload "A Lovely Day" but it's 250.9kb. Here's one of the Journalist's recordng.

Oh for the love of Dredd, that file sounds like a Cyberman with diarrhoea. You could not get more compression artefacts if you played bagpipes in a vice.

To add: Why is it, Cassidy, that you never hear your spirits at work in normal quality recordings? Why do you have to sink to the bottom of the quality barrel before they come squeezing out like cream cheese from a pinpricked wrapper?

Why is it that you must seek more noise before you hear your material?

Most people would seek to hear and see with more clarity. You do not chop your fingers off before trying to touch a face. You do not pour wax into your ears before listening to a song.

What you are doing is to artificially (yes!) add sounds that are not there in nature to what you then gape at.

It's exacty identical to writing your name and then being surprised to see your name written.

I've not got time to go into anything else here, but that sounds like a high-pass filter being incrementally applied. My best guess is some kind of automated bass-attenuation algorithm which is perhaps malfunctioning. It's difficult to say more without knowing more exact details about your set-up.

I'm on a Samsung laptop. If I was to use new PC's during the test, or use "friends" PC's they would perform in the same way. They can't record a straight note.

Thanks for help today, I managed to put something together. I'll post it off and hope for a reply.

What you should do is make a similar recording and make another one with different recording hardware.
Your journalist contact may himself or one of his colleagues have a portable audio recorder, you could ask him to make a simultaneous recording while you use your material to record.

Did Mr Taylor perhaps actually make a recording himself?

He didn't have a PC with him, or I'd have been on to it. Ideally, I could do with a PC that doesn't do this disappearing, so I could compare. I haven't tried this use an external microphone yet, I'm wondering if the outcome would be different, so will try that on Monday.

Same thing again. The reason it disappears completely while a human voice would remain is because a human voice has frequencies that are far above 60Hz. The human voice doesn't really start having much energy to it until it's an octave above that tone, and it can only really reach down to about 5 semitones above it at all. The human speaking voice can typically be an octave and a half above 60Hz, so it's entirely to be expected that a filter which removes 60Hz will not remove a human voice.

That's what's happening - the lower frequencies are disappearing for some reason. My first thought, as I said above, is that this is some kind of bass-attenuation which in which a HPF being applied too judiciously, but I can't do anything more than give a WAG without more information and I won't have much time over the next few days.

It happens with any frequency so long as it's a straight tone. I usually make a tapping noise rather than use vocal words, it works well with both.

I've had folk test out their PC for this sort of effect before handling their PC. The PC recording function will work normal (records straight tones) After transferring this activity, it can no longer record as normal.

Hence thinking of taking new inspected PC's, to transfer this activity into on the day.

I don't manipulate or touch any cables? never have done. Folk suggested it, but that doesn't mean to say that's what I do. I don't do anything underhand at all.

It isn't just me and my friends, and we don't see things. I have clients (happy clients) and if all I have to do on the day is cause noise to disappear, or transfer a malfunction into a newly inspected PC's , I stand a good chance, if not, I fail and continue with my work.
