Looking for Skeptics - Continuation (Cassidy's EVP/diamond damage claim)

This is why trying to help Cassidy with a protocol is pointless. She does not have a point at which reason and logic can give her pause.

I'll say this again: There is no point at which you can be sure she will accept herself mistaken.

There is no reason. There is no logic. There is no technique. There is no education.

No matter how you tie it down, once the signal gets to her mind, the spirits start nattering away. You can show, to mathematical perfection, that input = output, but she will still discern the stuff she does.

There is no way you can change her predetermined mind.

You don't need to change my mind. You just need to look at the facts that are available.
The MD hash did not alter.
Rainfall & fan noises do not switch off simultaneously during playback, leaving blips behind.

There are two facts, not just the one fact.

The signal is not in my mind, and the spirits do not natter away, other than for beneficial purposes.

Just as her claim that a recording was altered was objectively testable. We tested it, and proved that the MD hash remained the same. Yet here we are, months later, still indulging her fantasies.

Fantasies or mistakes? (Please stick to just the one speculation) If you do have an alternative reason as to why "natural" rainfall & fan noises stopped dead (twice) during playback, I'd like to hear it?

I'm not disrespecting it Donn.

Ha. You invert the meaning of my post and then have at it! Why am I surprised? There is no plain statement that you cannot slant.

<..blather snip..>I'd like to get to the bottom of the truth, I don't believe I know it, I just know that there is something more to know.

It sounds convincing, but then, you always did.

Tell me, how can you know anything if you have no way to change your mind?

Your mind cannot be changed. It's that simple.

Yes my dear, this is the very point I am making; thank you.

In other words they natter away. Thanks again.

Natures rainfall noise cannot be changed either.

You're missing (or avoiding) the entire point here, Cassidy. Nobody needs to explain "why" the noises stopped; you need to demonstrate objectively that they do. Hence the MD hash and SB's wave-forms. It's irrelevant to speculate on "why" before you've even shown "what."

Fantasies or mistakes?
Fantasies based on mistakes.

If you do have an alternative reason as to why "natural" rainfall & fan noises stopped dead (twice) during playback, I'd like to hear it?
That's your interpretation of what you heard. I honestly can't remember what I heard, it's been so long since I listened to the recording in question. Perhaps you could link to it so that we can all listen to it afresh and tell you how we interpret what we hear.

No interpretation, of course, will alter the objective fact that the MD hash stayed the same, so whatever was recorded was not changed by your jiggery-pokery.

I'm not afraid of your insulting nature, and I'll not stoop to your belligerent level.

If you believe that you can prove that you are correct with your "assumption" I'd prefer you approach me in a mature manner, and without the repartition.

I've already heard your (et 'al) medical assumptions, and I have already stated that I am being constantly supported by a GP.

It's just a challenge. Everyone who believes they have a supernatural ability will go for the challenge. If they fail, they fail. If I fail I fail, and if I succeed, charity benefits greatly.

I'll save everyone some time. Cassidy will fail and cite the reason as either the spirits being weak that day or some other frivolous excuse.

A non reply. Fine, whatever. Time to lurk.

Incidentally the fan on my laptop switches itself on and off all the time. The sound Cassidy describes as natural rainful could also have been caused by the fan.

So what you are stating is, the supernatural wouldn't be able to cause that sort of phenomena with MD hash tags. I will have to beg to differ this, considering the rainfall & fan noises disappeared simultaneously (twice) during playback, of a file that was described by a person who knew how important his description would be, to the test in question. "Rainfall & fan noise" running "constantly" through the entire recording (As rain noise would do)

Yes it is going to record a "constant" noise, being that it was rainfall. So why did the both noises disappear from the recording during playback?

If you have no plausible answer to this, then you shouldn't be so convinced that the supernatural cannot by-pass MD hash tags.

Squeegee: don't forget to account for the real bad compressors they use with the internal mics on computers. They can cause all kinds of bizarre artifacts.

ETA: is it even possible to disable them? I've never explored in internal software on my Mac, I should have a look sometime.

It was a room fan. A PC fan noise can be heard going up & down on my PC too, but it doesn't switch to silence. It doesn't switch off the noise of heavy rainfall either (Twice ... leaving blips behind)

Lol. It was the fan too. But also the rain. The fan and the rain. It wasn't the rain, but a fan. It's the fan. Up and down. The rain fan. Then the rain stopped. I am clarity, hear me obscure.

I'm saying that if the MD hash didn't change then neither did the file.

Are you suggesting that whatever supernatural force you think is at work deliberately made a hash algorithm produce the wrong number either before or after the recording? Because if you are then you have crossed the line into delusional. You're also saying that your claims are not, and never will be, objectively testable.

Actually both rain and fan noise would come and go. Rain rarely stays at exactly the same intensity for minutes at a time, it gets harder and then eases, and fans switch themselves on and off. Someone who was indicating that both were background noises during a recording might well use the word constantly without meaning that both stayed at exactly the same level throughout.

So where is this recording, so we can all listen to it and tell you what we hear?

The MD hash did not alter.

Do you understand that this, simply, obviates your claim that the file has been "changed"?

Your subjective decision that you, personally, "hear" something is not supported by testable reality.

Rainfall & fan noises do not switch off simultaneously during playback, leaving blips behind.

You are right. Why then, do you SAY that they do?

There are two facts, not just the one fact.

The signal is not in my mind, and the spirits do not natter away, other than for beneficial purposes.

Sorry, but so far, there are no "facts". Just your assertions.
