Yep.

It was 3.2°C overnight here (at 5 am) but a more hospitable 9.9 now.

Just back in from the doggo's morning walk, and he was wearing a quilted jacket. :)

Not as cold as Canberra, I still have my 300 weight polar fleece jacket that I used to wear in Canberra, and I only wear it here if I'm out at an astronomy night.

:)

This morning I was wearing the long sleeved undershirt, long sleeved tee shirt, overalls and a polar fleece sleeveless top and polar fleece beanie.

We've passed the winter solstice, so warmer weather is on the way.

(I typically think of July as the coldest month here, but memory is fickle.)

Thanks. All safe and sound, though my house has crazy water damage!!!:thumbsup:

ETA: Holy ****, we have blue skies!!! I haven't seen the sun in weeks... and. of course, I'm working and can't get any Vitamin D today. Sigh.

Good to hear you’re safe. Was the house floor flooded?

It is close to 100 degrees. It has been going on for several days. For the next week we are to cool down to about 90 degrees.

So ******* what if his army career is over? This ******* beat a woman nearly to death! He should be locked away and shouldn't be allowed on the streets for the next five years!

My sentiments exactly.

PS I was more incensed by his commanding officer's reaction of "that's a surprise, he's not really like that", which seems to have been the official PDF line.

And in good, if delayed news Irish Times journalist Kitty Holland has won her libel action and been awarded €35,000 damages for defamation of character, against author and columnist John Waters.
Judge O’Connor held that the defamation in the case was a serious attack on Ms Holland’s professional integrity as a journalist and had caused her considerable hurt, his words had suggested that she was a journalist who was deceitful in her presentation of an important news story, probably the biggest of her career.

Alex Ophel committed to stand trial over the alleged attempted murder of two women at the Australian National University

The man accused of stabbing two women at the Australian National University (ANU) in September last year has been committed to stand trial in the ACT Supreme Court.

Alex Ophel is facing multiple charges, including two of attempted murder, after he allegedly stabbed one woman multiple times before attacking a second woman at Fellows Oval near the Chifley Library.

The then-24-year-old had allegedly already hit a male student with a frying pan and later allegedly hit another man.

Both women were taken to hospital with serious injuries and were released last year.
There were concerns about this man's mental health. He has been undergoing psychiatric assessment and we've been waiting on the report.

This guy can't drive 55.

Farmington man arrested after being clocked going 158mph on Route 101, state police say

A Farmington man was arrested after being clocked going nearly 160 miles per hour on Route 101, state police said.

New Hampshire State Police said they got a report Sunday of a group of motorcycles operating hazardously on Route 101 eastbound in Raymond.

A trooper in the state police airplane found the group and the front motorcycles were passing other vehicles and going in between two vehicles at the same time, state police said.

The trooper clocked the motorcycle going 158 mph, and another trooper recorded the motorcycle going 110 mph as it approached Interstate 95, state police said.

Authorities said the motorcycle continued onto Route 107 then went onto I-95 northbound, where the trooper in the plane also clocked the motorcycle going 144 mph and the motorcycle was weaving in and out of traffic.

The motorcycle, driven by Zachary Dionne, 21, of Farmington, pulled into a gas station and arrested, state police said.

Dionne was charged with disobeying an officer, reckless driving, unregistered vehicle, unsafe lane change, resisting arrest, reckless conduct - deadly weapon and fail to display plates.

He is being held on preventative detention and is scheduled to be in court on Monday.

...disobeying an officer, reckless driving, unregistered vehicle, unsafe lane change, resisting arrest, reckless conduct - deadly weapon and fail to display plates...A nice full set there. Though the deadly weapon part seems superfluous when you already are one.

Illinois woman who called 911 to report a suspected prowler is shot by sheriff's deputy. The link includes body cam video. https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/new...m-footage-illinois-911-fatal-police-shooting/

Wow. That is a horrifying and baffling one. There was zero tension there (besides her confused opacity) and suddenly he thinks she wants to throw hot water on him from the other side of her kitchen? And decides he has to confront and shoot her intead of retreating? At least they seem to be throwing the book at the guy.
