Tangentially... the first Microsoft product I ever purchased was Xenix. Circa 1980s.Why didn't they just check when they wrote MS-DOS which way UNIX did it. They guessed and they guessed wrong. It caused all kinds of hassles for me over the years.

Mine was SCO Xenix - all part and parcel of the MS/IBM mishmash - would have been about 1986 I think.

I actually did a study on the advantages of IBM Token Ring using an IBM PC with MS Xenix installed. So many technologies lost and forgotten.![]()
