It's pretty simple. Rush believes that Obama's ideas would harm the country, so he believes it's better if he doesn't get to implement them; if Obama succeeds in getting his ideas executed, he'll harm the country, which is bad and should be avoided. To want good things for the country is to want bad political ideas to fail and good ones to prevail. In other words, it's politics, and they're opponents, and NO political opponents EVER want each other to succeed, whether they claim to or not.
To present it as anything else is simply to lie... which isn't particularly new, given the segment of the population who never say anything about Rush that isn't a lie.
I understand. But it would have been less confusing if Rush had simple just said " I think Obama's ideas are bad for the country and should not be implimented."
That is a bit different than saying the he hopes Obama fails. Since Obama is president now and if his ideas that get implimented fails means that bad things will happen to the country because of the failure.
And I disagree that to want good things for the country is to want bad ideas to fail. To want good things for the country is to prevent bad ideas from being implimented in the first place. A bad idea can only be called a failed idea if it is implimented and then fails, other wise it is just a bad idea.
And this adversarial attitude that Republicans and Democrates have with each other is simply juvenile. This country needs leadership and cooperation not childish bickering.
The more infighting that goes on, the deeper the country slips into the crapper.
