Lying under oath in a sexual assault case is not a trivial thing.Ah, yes. Lying about a trivial thing is a nontrivial thing. Somehow. Because of sin? Jesus? I don't know.

.. Now I sort of take them in stride, so to speak....
Lying under oath in a sexual assault case is not a trivial thing.
Hell, Woodrow Wilson covered up the severity of a stroke which actually impacted his performance as President. Clinton is a sleaze, but consensual sex with an adult woman was not against the law, and neither was lying about details of his sex life.
We use to say in DC "how do we get Starr out of town?".It is a good reminder of the despicable Kenn Star investigation, and the GOP's overreach.
Daredelvis
Lewinsky never claimed Clinton assaulted her. You are thinking of another case involving Clinton, I believe...and how do you know he lied under oath? Were you there when the alleged assault happened?
Gold. Gold of the purest quality.I always wondered what the reaction would have been if he'd just admitted it proudly?
"Mr President! Did you have sex with that young woman?!"
"You bet I did! Whew, did I sex her! It was hot and disgusting! Next question?"
"...Nothing further."
"You sure? I could go into detail. You see, I took my-"
"Nothing further!! Please!"
"-and that's why we had to replace the carpet at taxpayor expense."

Didn't Congress try to impeach Bill?
As I recall it all started with a witchhunt into the Whitewater thing. When that failed to provide the horrible scandal the GOP wanted it morphed into what it eventually became: a bunch of testimony on oral sex and semen stains on dresses in regards to a consensual relationship.
I know, but I think eeyore is referring to the charges brought against Clinton by Juanita Broderick (or Paula Jones or Gennifer Flowers or whoever the heck it was), which was a case separate from the Starr investigation.
... Boy, does Bill get around?
Don't know, don't care.
I wasn't aware Monica Lewinsky ever claimed it was an assault.
It's a Lewinsky, Clinton, Redux thread.
I am pretty sure he lied under oath in the Paula Jones case about his relationship with Monica Lewinsky.
Yes, and the OP refers to Lewinsky's article in the current issue of Vanity Fair, and how it might affect Hillary Clinton's possible bid for the Presidency. It's established Clinton had an affair with Lewinsky. Whether he "got around" and had affairs with the others, I don't know and don't care.
In any case, Jones and Broderick charged him with sexual assault. If they were being truthful, I don't call multiple rape as having "got around" like a randy college boy racking up conquests.
You're right. Apologies. I assumed you were referring to the Clinton/Lewinsky liasion as the "sexual assault" example.
