Kirk, like much of the God Squad, seems to have never even read the "2,000 page sleeping pill", as Rev. Lovejoy calls it. Not only were Adam and Eve not married they appear to have had some sort of kinky threesome with God when it came to the conception of Cain.

As for gays destroying civilization, well folks I'll try today but my entire civilization destroying wardrobe is in the laundry.

Colbert touched on that on a recent episode discussing gay marriage. he opposed it on the grounds that it is cockblocking god.

The Toff's fallacy in this case is that the other phrase which doesn't make sense (the idiom 'I could care less') must be wrong. It isn't. Both of them are correct for what they are.

Canada passed a marriage equality law 7 years ago and since then, I've had to go to a lot more weddings but other than that nightmare (I love love, I love marriage, I HATE weddings), our civilization is intact.

KC should read that book he's referencing... Especially the book of Ruth which has the passage "And Ruth said, Entreat me not to leave thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God"

Ruth left her daughters to be with this person and this passage is included in many wedding ceremonies.... It's a lovely relationship, Ruth & Naomi. The whole David & Jonathan relationship is also a good read.

Of course, reading the bible is a very dangerous thing to do if you want to continue being a Christian as the contradictions and silliness in there is going to make you ask a lot of difficult questions

Since it has sometimes been alleged that Christianity destroyed a few civilization, or at least participated in their downfall, does that not make Christianity....gay ?

What does Genesis mean?

Some years ago, I went to a lecture by a scholar of the old testiment. IIRC her argument was that God let Adam select his mate. For her, Genesis trumped Leviticus, with respect to the question of whether homosexuality is or is not condemned in the old testament. In other words, one should be able to select one's own mate. I am not much of a biblical scholar, but this does not seem to be an unreasonable position. Could one discuss such a concept with Mr. Cameron in a productive way? I am not sure.

Kirk Cameron does not think. He reacts. He's been given his script, and he's following his lines to the letter. He'll refine the delivery a bit, work out the blocking, maybe shift a few things around, but in the end, he's not going to deviate much from the script until his director tells him, "Hey, this ain't working. Let's do it this way."

There's something extraordinarily creepy in all of this: Cameron is choosing to be stupid. He fails to note that Mike Warnke and Richard Roberts both divorced, (Warnke multiple times), yet can't seem to connect this reality with how it destroys marriage. I'd go so far as to say that it's even more destructive to marriage than Gay and Lesbian marriage, simply because the one group universally permitted to marry, Straight people, are breaking the very vows they made. Hell, does anyone really think that Mark Sanford's affair which ended his marriage to his wife, Jenny, really benefited any "defense of marriage"? James Carville did more to defend marriage than Sanford ever did. (And he's one of them there eeeeeeevil Democrats!)

Why anyone is giving any credence to anything this man says is beyond me. He's a stump, and intellectual stump. He has little, if anything, to offer, save some notoriety from ages ago. Frankly, he doesn't even have enough sense to look at the record of child actors who actually contributed something once they left Hollywood, and to follow their lead. People like Charlie Korsmo and Shirley Temple Black are actually contributing something to society and to the National dialogue. Cameron doesn't even have the sense to listen.

And he wants us to believe that Gays and Lesbians marrying -- the horror! Same Sex Marriage! -- will destroy America.

Just a thought: A few things that stand a better chance of doing that...

1.) An invasion of illegal aliens from Alpha Centauri.

2.) Huge meteors.

3.) Joe Biden, in the middle of sensitive political negotiations with another nuclear armed nation, choosing to pick his nose.

4.) Newt Gingrich.

5.) Volcanoes erupting along the Pacific Coast.

6.) Newt Gingrich.

7.) John Ashcroft being elected or appointed to any office.

8.) Did I mention Newt Gingrich?

And so on.

Joking aside, Kirk Cameron needs to actually READ his Bible for once. Then he needs to start asking all those hard questions that Josh McDowell seems to want people to avoid, usually by providing forced choices for them. He might want to spend a little time among the rest of us, instead of insulating himself from those who would challenge his preconceived notions of what we're supposed to be.

Kirk Cameron needs to grow up.
