Agreed that a lot of things 'sound wrong'. It took me a long time to get used to some of them, even after they were accepted as correct.

I do agree that getting him to say exactly what silly reason gay marriage will destroy civilization is one route to go. Personally, I would have followed up by saying "I know many fundamentalists who use those exact same words to explain why interracial marriage is a violation of God's Holy Laws. Do you agree with those folks?"

If I had received such an answer, I might just stop the interview and say that nothing more telling could possibly be said. Conversely, it would be fun to ask Cameron if he thought that inter-racial marriage should be outlawed in the U.S.

If Cameron took the opposite tack, then the next question would be, if you are absolutely certain that your interpretation of Genesis is correct and these other Chrsistians are absolutely certain that their interpretation of Genesis is correct; how are we to know who is right and who is wrong?

The romantic mariage as we know it is relatively recent AFAIWT. Before it wsa more or less used to make sure of inheritance , and before that it was secular, and before that it was between any number of man and woman, even between men. His conception of mariage is actually very recent and very unusual in history of humanity or even christianty.

As I recall the church did not even want to have anything to do with it for centuries, and finally took up "regulating" it with great reluctance in the middle ages.
