Kent Hovind gets 10 years

Hoo boy. Someone to hang out with when Kurious Kathy gets boring.

Okay JesusFreak I can see you have come to this site to on some crusade to save all our souls, and mate, if that makes your day, then more power to you. You are not intrest in having a rational, logical argument.

It is a dangerous thing to say something is without fault and can ONLY be true. It is dangerous for your children and for the future of mankind. Voltaire said "Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities."

I say that the argument that "the Bible is always correct" is false.
You say it is not.

As far as the logical argument is concerned we are at an impass. Were do we go from here ?

1st I am not trying to save your souls...I cannot do that.
2nd I am very interested in having a rational logical argument. I realize I will probably change no ones mind but I just think both sides need to be represented.

I get the feeling that many of you in here feel that his arguments are wrong or complete lies, can you please be specific? being new to the board I am not aware of all your arguments. Thanks

Sure, specifically, the Hovind Theory is completely wrong:

http://www.kent-hovind.com/theory.htm

One case of clear cut proof he is a quack:

Hovind has discovered a cure for cancer. A vitamin B17 deficiency causes cancer just like vitamin C deficiency causes scurvy. Taking B17 plus C will cure your cancer.

Wrong:
Vitamin B17 is also called amygdalin, but more commonly laetrile. Laetrile does not meet the standards for being a vitamin. It is a compound of two sugar molescules called an amygdalin. Ernst Krebs labeled it a vitamin. Laetrile contains 6% cyanide which is extremely toxic. Taking too much laetrile can be lethal. After extensive testing the National Cancer Institute found laetrile not to be effective in treating cancer. The Food and Drug Administration rejected it because of its poisonous cyanide content. For more information about vitamin B17 click here.

Another claim:
In a debate with Farrell Till Hovind said, Donald Johanson "found the leg bones of [Australopithecus afarensis] Lucy a mile and a half away from the head bones. The leg bones were 200 feet deeper in a deeper layer of strata. I would like to know how fast the train was going that hit that chimpanzee."

His claim that the 'Lucy's' leg bones were found at a distance from the skull bones is false and despite being informed of this Hovind still repeats this "joke."

True...But neither one should be taught in public schools...NEXT!

Both are taught in public schools.

Oh sorry, I should point out that the universe does not revolve around American BTW.

You've still failed to explain why evolution isn't scientific. I assume that is necessary for you to assert that evolution should not be taught in schools.

How about the lack of facts?
sci·ence :a branch of knowledge or study dealing with a body of facts or truths systematically arranged and showing the operation of general laws.
It is one theory of many, but is taught as fact!

How about the lack of facts?

There's an absolute ton of facts.

sci·ence :a branch of knowledge or study dealing with a body of facts or truths systematically arranged and showing the operation of general laws.

Again, you should stop quoting that definition until you understand it.

I can't help but feel sorry for him. He was always very nice to opponents when I listened to him debate on the ‘infidel guy’ radio show and despite his flawed logic he was pretty well read on religious philosophical history.

He’s just very very deluded.

I agree. Not only that, but I think it's a miscarriage of justice to give someone 10 years simply because they did not pay money.

BTW I agree this has gotten off the original topic. If someone would start A new thread I will gladly go there. I don't know how to do it...probably because us creationist type aint as learned as the evolutionist.:-)

The IRS started investigating in 1996, but he sued various agents, made threats, sued the IRS, changed the property in other people's names...

He was convicted of 58 charges: (12 couts of) tax evasion, (45 counts of) structuring withdrawals, and one charge was:

COUNT FIFTY-EIGHT
1. Part A of Counts One through Twelve is hereby realleged as if fully set forth herein.

2. That between in or about March 1996 up to and including the dates of the return of this indictment, in the Northern District of Florida, the defendant,

KENT E. HOVIND,

did corruptly endeavor to obstruct and impede the due administration of the internal revenue laws by acts which include the following:

a. Filing a petition for bankruptcy, and falsely listing the IRS as his only creditor, for the sole purpose of discharging this debt and forcing the IRS to release seized property;

b. Filing a false and frivolous lawsuit against the IRS in which he demanded damages for criminal trespass and other false allegations during the IRS execution of a lawful court-issued search warrant;

c. Filing a complaint for a preliminary injunction against an investigation IRS special agent and the Commissioner of the IRS;

d. Making threats of harm to those investigating him and to those who may consider cooperating with their investigation;

e. Filing a false complaint against investigating IRS agents with the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration;

f. Filing a criminal complaint against investigating IRS special agents falsely alleging, among other things, false arrest, false imprisonment, excessive use of force, and theft or property;

g. Destroying records; and,

h. Paying his employees in cash and labeling them “missionaries” rather than employees to avoid payroll tax and Federal Insurance Contributions Act requirements.

All in violation of Title, United States Code, Section 7212(a).

And that is nothing to be proud of either. If you start learning you may have to change your chosen name at some point in the future.

The thread is already created for you. Just go to it.

Taxes is money collected by the state to put back into running the country. So when a person doesn't pay their taxes they are stealing from everyone.

Not to mention that the money come from exploting people

I guess the mob, etc, don't deserve to much time either, after all, thet are in jail for not paying taxes

Rob someone with a shotgun and you will get 20 years. Rob someone with a pen and you only get 10
