Kelly to the rescue!

And guess what every commanding general has.........a Chief of Staff. So Kelly will have had at least four different jobs where he depended on a CofS.

I haven't gone to the GOMO webpage to review Kelly's military resume, but I'd bet he was on at least one occasion a CofS himself. It is a choice assignment reserved typically for those officers that are perceived to be going places themselves. As CofS, you are exposed to just about every decision the boss makes and to the interrelated way that the staff gets things done.

Yes, Kelly (racist fascist that he is) is very well qualified to be WH CofS. I don't envy him, but he'll likely do as well as anyone could.

I don't doubt you on this, I am curious how you know this about him

GOMO?
I would like to find out more about him too.

General Officer Management Office

Sarge is military, it's a military site.

I suspect the way Kelly went after undocumented immigrants with apparent glee supports the racist/fascist bit.

I have absolutely zero experience in this area, so I'm hoping someone here might have.

Kelly is (apparently) a well-qualified, highly experienced senior officer from the armed forces. He is likely to have good skills as a leader and organiser, and unlikely to be easily bullied or intimidated.

What I'm not sure about is how well that translates to being CoS. I have a sense that perhaps someone who is used to being in a position where he gives orders and others follow them, because they have to, is perhaps going to have a different experience where people can, and do, push back against instructions they disagree with. More diplomacy required. I'm sure an officer of Kelly's rank has all sort of political aspects to their role, but I'm really not sure how much.

Anyone have any insight?

Military officers need a clear chain of command and means to punish transgressions.
In the White House, Kelly has neither when it comes to the major players like Bannon and Jarvanka.
Unless Pence starts to get involved, Kelly will also have to be the prime liason with the GOP, which will put him on collision course with everyone on Pennsylvania Avenue.

As Zaganza notes, military types are used to a clear chain of command, that implies giving orders as well as taking them. In my experience the interpersonal skills of officers varied widely, much like my civilian bosses. So, might be good at that aspect of the job, a good boss makes you feel like you want to do what they tell you even in the military.

The Wife Beater was a Naval officer and he openly disrupts the chain of command, and Kukol'nyy embraces it.

Wait until it becomes obvious the leaks will still happen. Then. Kelly gets to be part of the "Deep State" trying to over throw Kukol'nyy.

For those of not part of the in group, who are wife beater and kukol'nyy?

Thank you. I was in the Army too, but GOMO was new to me.

(It reminded me of a term used in a well known book to describe those
who have been so traumatized they are like zombies - gomer. The enlisted
personnel like me saw some officers as gomers who had to be led around
by the nose to keep them away from dangerous equipment. All in good fun,
of course. Uh, mostly. :D)

Since Kelly has gone after undocumented immigrants with glee then he is
a dishonorable gomer.

As a general officer, he is supposed to lead by example.
How sad for the military and by extension the USA.

My father went to West Point in the mid fifties (he was a racist, bully and alcoholic) I always hoped he was a very small minority, always whining about
how unfair it was that he got passed over, or bitching about the "jungle"
where predators were after him for his slot.
I was in 5th grade at the time, had the complaints down pat.

/end my derail. I need to stop with these military posts. :boxedin:

A definition of Kukol'nyy I found is "puppet". Presumably referring to Trump?

Yes, and the so-called wife beater is Steve Bannon

Bannon was an officer in the United States Navy for seven years in the late 1970s and early 1980s, serving on the destroyer USS Paul F. Foster as well as at the Pentagon

Bannon was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence, battery and dissuading a witness in early January 1996 after Piccard accused Bannon of domestic abuse. The charges were later dropped when his now ex-wife did not appear in court. In an article in The New York Times Piccard stated her absence was due to threats made to her by Bannon and his lawyer:

Kelly's house cleaning continued with ouster of Schiller. Kelly has solidified his position and if Trump listen to him sometimes, he could survive four years.

If Kelly can get Trump to stop tweeting he deserves a Nobel Peace Prize for preventing war with North Korea and/or Iran.

This photo is timed (from Kelly's watch) during the part where NK regime is a depraved "band of criminals" but before the part where America could "totally destroy" a country led by the suicidal "rocket man".

Wonder how many messages were waiting for him back in D.C.?

Yeah, and he agreed to the job. (Masochist?)

Yeah, but I am going to bet the over on his liquor bill increasing as time goes on.

Now that he is lying and disgracing himself for the president are we still supposed to respect his being a general?

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/20/us/politics/trump-kelly-congresswoman-wilson-niger.html

Is it just that slander of a elected official is part of his job now?
It's part of his job now. He needs to rein in Trump's behavior, which means he needs to stay on Trump's good side, which for Trump underlings (Trumperlings?) has always meant catching the **** that Trump invites. If that means lying through his teeth, or disrespecting his own former profession, or dancing in the street like a monkey, he'll have to do it. He signed away his dignity when he took the job.

But I'm pleased with how short the ruse lasted this time. They've already had to trot out their backup clown to berate us for laughing at the first.

I've got a quibble.

If:
1) Kelly wasn't party to the call (not in the office);
2) There was a recording of the call (which there apparently wasn't);

Then Kelly isn't lying, he's choosing to believe Trump.

So, rather than attacking Kelly for lying, perhaps we should be attacking Kelly for is abhorrent lack of judgement for believing Trump.

He is lying when he reports that Rep. Wilson made a speech taking credit for the FBI building though......

No Kelly is lying about past speeches for which there is video of. Look at the link I posted.

"Video of a 2015 speech delivered by Representative Frederica S. Wilson revealed Friday that John F. Kelly, the White House chief of staff, misrepresented her remarks when he accused her of bragging about securing $20 million for a South Florida F.B.I. building and twisting President Barack Obama’s arm.

Mr. Kelly, escalating a feud between Mr. Trump and Ms. Wilson, had cast the congresswoman on Thursday as a publicity-seeking opportunist. However, the video, released by The Sun Sentinel, a newspaper in South Florida, showed that during her nine-minute speech, Ms. Wilson never took credit for getting the money for the building, only for helping pass legislation naming the building after two fallen federal agents."

But it is his job to slander people with easily disproved lies.
