Anyway, I conjured up a video and watched it. Where's the Satan? It's all archetypal dark "Wasteland" material with a big fiery finish. There's nothing specific to any religion; more Carl Jung than Anton LaVey. It is unsurprising that it got a rise, though. "Archetypal" implies ripeness for the unhindered operation of psychological mechanisms like projection. Well, it worked.
Perhaps Christianity feels that it somehow owns dark archetypal imagery, with its signature flayed-man-nailed-to-a-stick iconography. Compared with that, Ms Perry's set feels like a breath of fresh air. Maybe that's the real source of the complaints.
