Anyway, I conjured up a video and watched it. Where's the Satan? It's all archetypal dark "Wasteland" material with a big fiery finish. There's nothing specific to any religion; more Carl Jung than Anton LaVey. It is unsurprising that it got a rise, though. "Archetypal" implies ripeness for the unhindered operation of psychological mechanisms like projection. Well, it worked.

Perhaps Christianity feels that it somehow owns dark archetypal imagery, with its signature flayed-man-nailed-to-a-stick iconography. Compared with that, Ms Perry's set feels like a breath of fresh air. Maybe that's the real source of the complaints.

Well, there is the always popular goal of making money but don't see any higher purposes than that myself.

The bigger the star the more they can do whatever takes their fancy - no one will say no to them so I'd say it is more likely that a "major mainstream" artist like Perry is doing what she finds fun/interesting/whimsical and so on.

Morons who don't understand such playful and otherwise non serious representations of myth in popular culture because they have bought into them as truth.


If I was a popular artist I would definitely be trolling hard those people who pore over YouTube clips of popular music for what they see as satanic and Illuminati symbols.
 
I can't say whether or not she's a witch until she's been examined head to toe for warts. I volunteer to do the examination.
 
Does Katy Perry weigh the same as a duck?

It seems to me that she wants publicity, and this is a way to get it. Nothing more than that, and Glenn Beck and his ilk have fallen into the obvious trap.

Where marketing runs in to self promotion.

Now the Katy Perry fans get to joust on social media with the chuckleheads who believe in demons.

Maybe Glenn Beck will cry or something.

I just watched it on Youtube.

I saw Katy emerge from a translucent acrylic orb.

I saw lots of Druidish imagery.

I was reminded of Spinal Tap.

Does Glenn Beck know that Katy is pretty much on his side? She's performing, and the costumes and imagery are all part of that. Not sure how he gets to demonic worship out of that other than he is doing what he always, witch is to attract listeners with false outrage.
