Kamala Harris Election Campaign

This is hilarious.

My personal favorites:

03/17/21 Biden: “They should all be going back.” <- That's some tough talk.

06/07/21 Kamala Harris: "Do not come. Do not come." <- Doubling down!

12/15/22 Asks Mexico to let it restart Remain in Mexico. <- This is my personal favorite, although I'll admit I just skimmed the list.

Please share where you copied and pasted this from. I'm hoping they've got more material!

Is it as funny as Trump saying to the Mexican President that Mexico didn't have to pay for the wall, but announce that they would?

If you think that you're an idiot.

Fact. The Biden administration has been tougher on immigration than the Trump administration was. It just didn't put children in cages or take them away from their families. Fact, Congress has done nothing but complain. Fact, Republicans basically wrote a very tough bill to strengthen immigration restrictions and the Democrats agreed to pass that bill. Fact, Trump blew up that deal because he wanted to use immigration as a political issue.

BTW, the kids in cages photo? Taken in 2014, when Saint Barrack was running the country. You are correct about the separation of kids from their families at the border.

"But but but whatabout--"
As far as I know, Barrack Obama didn't run the detention centres like concentration camps, or rip children from their families. People stayed there short-term until processed, not as punishment for being brown people seeking asylum.

Probably mentioned before, but -

The President's wife is known as the First Lady ... or FLOTUS
If Harris wins will her husband be the First Gentleman ... or FGOTUS?
It sort of breaks up the neatness of POTUS/FLOTUS/SCOTUS

You are right.

I'll be voting for Trump to avoid that

To be clear, the cults are Islam, BLM, and another one.

RECOGNIZE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF CULTS

1. Isolating members and penalizing them for leaving
2. Seeking inappropriate loyalty to their leaders
3. Dishonoring the family unit
4. Absolute authoritarianism without meaningful accountability.
5. No tolerance for questions or critical inquiry.
6. No meaningful financial disclosure regarding budget, expenses such as an independently audited financial statement.
7. Unreasonable fear about the outside world, such as impending catastrophe, evil conspiracies, and persecutions.
8. There is no legitimate reason to leave, former followers are always wrong in leaving, negative or even evil.
9. Followers feel they can never be "good enough".
10. The group/leader is always right.
11. The group/leader is the exclusive means of knowing "truth" or receiving validation, no other process of discovery is really acceptable or credible.

Ordinary Islam is not a cult (although extreme Islamic organizations such as Al Qaeda and the Taliban could be classified as cults.)

Christianity is not a cult (although extreme Christian groups such as the Westboro Baptist Church, and the LDS Church could be classified as cults.)

BLM is not a cult

Antifa is not a cult

However..
Scientology is a child trafficking cult
Branch Davidians are an apocalyptic cult
NXIVM (Nexiam) was a sex cult
Jonestown was a religious cult
And the Republican Party are well on their way to being a political cult, with Trump as their Deity - their God-King.

I have moved the conversation about whether Christianity or BLM, Antifa, etc are cults or not to the following thread

Religious, political and social movements that can be called cults

So the market is always correct? That sellers should be able to charge whatever the market will bear? Is that what you're saying?
It would have to be better than having prices set by politicians.

The real problem is excessively large corporations controlling the lion's share of the market. Has Harris addressed this issue?

I'm not in love with the Harris, price cap plan as far as I understand it today. There is a place for that to correct short term profiteering in a crisis event. The better strategy is probably to use anti-trust laws to break up the big food and grocery chains. ConAgra and Kroger would be good places to start, Tyson's too. We need to get real competition back into the grocery space. That would also give negotiating power back to farmers.

I’ve always assumed that “price controls” rarely achieve their intended objectives.

It’s easy to call for “rent caps”, but I think many landlords are already struggling with rising insurance and other costs and struggling to make their investments worth the hassle. Capping what they can charge for rent can put them in the red, and could lead to a wholesale dumping of rental properties.

Here’s what Copilot comes back with:

Price controls, while often implemented with good intentions, tend to be ineffective for several reasons:

Distortion of Supply and Demand: Price controls interfere with the natural balance of supply and demand. When prices are artificially set below the market equilibrium (price ceiling), it often leads to shortages because the lower price increases demand while discouraging supply. Conversely, setting prices above the market equilibrium (price floor) can lead to surpluses, where supply exceeds demand.

Reduced Incentives for Producers: Price ceilings can reduce the incentive for producers to supply more of a good or service. For example, if rent controls are imposed, landlords may be less inclined to maintain or invest in rental properties, leading to a deterioration in housing quality.

Black Markets and Inefficiencies: When price controls create shortages, black markets often emerge where goods are sold at higher prices. This undermines the purpose of the controls and can lead to inefficiencies and unfair distribution of goods.

Administrative Costs and Enforcement Issues: Implementing and enforcing price controls requires significant administrative effort and resources. Governments need to monitor prices and ensure compliance, which can be costly and challenging.

Temporary Relief, Not a Long-Term Solution: Price controls do not address the underlying causes of high prices, such as supply chain issues or inflation. They provide temporary relief but can exacerbate problems in the long run by discouraging production and investment.

Overall, while price controls might offer short-term benefits in specific situations, they often lead to unintended consequences that can worsen the very issues they aim to solve.

I actually went to the rally with Mrs T, since her sister did not want to go. We brought sandwiches and ate them in the line from 9-11. Water was free. After the short line up to metal detectors after 11 it was about 3 hours of standing. The venue was too small with such a hastily put together event. The balcony had seats. Worst part was the too loud funk/disco/roller skate type of music from a DJ, with almost nothing but the bass to be heard.

After all that (5 hours or so), speeches by local democrats and 45 minutes of Walz and his wife (first 15 minutes) and a Nebraska student they had once taught. Educators were heavily promoted. Stump speech items are these:

many of the items reworded to NE audience.

I believe the venue problem was mostly to do with the federal agents assigned to this. About ten of them had to clear 2500 people through security in about 30 minutes. Also, there was not time to prepare the outdoor arena there. Think "rooftops." The extra people got herded there to watch it all on video screen. So up to 4000 got to see something.

Let everything else Republicans only pretend to have values when Democrats are trying to help people.

It's telling that this laundry list of philosophical/political/ethical/legal concerns Republicans are lying about having about the big evil gubernment flexing its muscles only came out when Democrats use government power because "Hey maybe people SHOULDN'T die because insulin costs more than then anti-matter."

As always the cruelty is the point. Republicans only have one moral "Anything done to help disadvantaged people is evil."
