Just In: Amanda Knox Parents Must Stand Trial for Libel

Hi Antony,
I wonder how can Amanda's parents successfully defend themselves?
Hmmm...

We should send over a sufficient quantity and quality of special forces to protect the rights of the Knox family when they go over their to visit Amanda or attend the trial.

Maybe the secret service?

I'm mad at the upstart little country.

Has an American ever been intimidated by another country before?

OK, someone wrote a book that the Muslims didn't like. However, even in that case, it wasn't the parents of a innocent child that they were protesting.

In Egypt, protestors get treated better.

And the parents are being sued for what they said in our own country.

This is too much, Obama should say something.

Gosh Justinian, you're all over the place. Not sure what you mean by being intimidated by another country. I believe Amanda's parents made the comments in question in the British press, not the American press.

Amanda isn't a child, she's a woman.

Are you some kind of elaborate parody? I really can't tell if you're serious.

“Amanda was abused physically and verbally. She told us she was hit in the back of the head by a police officer with an open hand, at least twice.”

“The police told her, ‘If you ask for a lawyer, things will get worse for you’ and ‘If you don’t give us some explanation for what happened, you're going to go to jail for a very long time.’”

Does anyone honestly feel that those statements were a crime? Amanda's parents were simply repeating the testimony made by their daughter. They weren't on trial. They weren't under oath in an Italian court. They were giving an interview to a newspaper. No matter what the law is, these charges are completely unnecessary and in my opinion, ridiculous. You know, in North Dakota, you're breaking the law if you dance with a hat on. I imagine common sense would keep anyone from enforcing the law. It seams that common sense was nowhere to be found when these charges were leveled against Amanda's parents.

I do not know if there could possibly be a better example of an inexcusable abuse of power. This behavior is very dangerous and this information should be disturbing to anyone who reads it. This conduct should be most alarming to Italians. These actions threaten their own freedom.
