Jonathan Cainer the astrologer

For that matter, consider the fact that it is right now 5:41 p.m. in Kermit, Texas.

I think everyone's missing the important point here. Just stop and think for a minute. There's a place called Kermit! How awesome is that!:)

My dear.... If Randi knows anything about astrology he should know birthtime is essential. Either he doesnt know or doesnt care, which means, that like his chinese chart tells me, he is utterly unscrupulous:mad:
Are you telling me that horoscopes need to know the birth time to be accurate.

Does that mean that the Newspaper horoscopes I read each morning and base my love life, financial and work decisions on is not accurate ?

Are the astrologers who provide these all utterly unscrupulous?

this is pathetic. Nobody knows Hugh Laurie`s time of irth. How could the reading ever be accurate?
Randi is a FRAUD!!!
Im gonna ask Cainer if he knew his time of birth

An astrologer gives a reading on what you claim is insufficient information, and you think this makes Randi a fraud?

Riiight.

(bolding mine)

Do you know Mr. Randi's birth time? Or does Chinese astrology not need it like you insist other types of astrology do? If you don't know Randi's birth time, how can you make this statement? Or is it just sour grapes?

this is what i just read about gemini my ascendant sign.
If you read my post in different threads youll see this is me

[Gemini is], in many ways, an eternal child. His mind is bright, alert, curious, flexible, playful, and always eager for new experiences - and his attention span is often quite brief. He grasps ideas quickly and once his initial curiosity has been satisfied, he wants to go on to something else. He craves frequent change, variety, meeting new situations and people.

"It may be hard for him to decide just where his talents and true vocation lies, for he has a multitude of interests and is loathe to limit himself by concentrating on just one.He is easily distracted by all of the other fascinating possibilities. His curiosity and restlessness propel him into many different experiences in life, and he is willing to taste or try anything once. Doing the same thing over and over again, even it is something he does well, is real drudgery for him.
"He lives in his head a great deal - reading, observing, thinking, spinning ideas around - and needs mental stimulation every bit as much as he needs food and drink. In fact, if he had to choose between a good book or movie and a good lunch, he would very likely choose the former. He has a creative mind and often lives by his wits.
"He is also a very social creature, with a strong need to communicate and to interact with people. He enjoys using and playing with words and has a real flair for getting his ideas across in a clever, interesting, articulate manner. Writing or
speaking are areas he has talent for.
"He also has a rather light and mischievous sense of humor, and often does not take anything too seriously. Though he craves emotional involvement, it is hard for him to achieve it, for he is frequently unwilling to commit himself to anything, to take responsibility, or to limit his personal freedom and mobility.
"His happiness lies in using his creativity and his language skills to communicate something meaningful, to teach, inspire, or bring people together. He has an unbiased mind and can usually offer a fresh, clear, uncluttered perspective. His faults are his lack of constancy and persistence, and his tendency to overlook or ignore deep emotional issues and other people's feelings.
"He has an extremely active, lively and versatile mind with a multitude of interests and an inexhaustible curiosity about life. He is quick to grasp new concepts and equally quick to lose interest in an idea or project once his curiosity has been satisfied. He likes to taste a little bit of everything -concentration and disciplined study are not his strong points. Mentally restless, he may change jobs or locations frequently, or do work that involves movement, travel, and variety.
"He has a flair for language, playing with words, speaking, writing, or teaching in an entertaining and informative way. He enjoys meeting new people, conversing and learning a little bit about them, and he works well with the public.
"Sales, advertising, communications, journalism, or public relations are good areas for him. His ability to be articulate and to communicate well is one of his greatest strengths."

About as different from me as it's possible to be: I'm very unsociable, hate parties, meeting new people etc; don't even go abroad for holidays let alone a job; still live in the same town I grew up in and never intend to move; work in IT and have been with the same employer for 19 years; totally committed to my relationship (married with 4 kids and usually described by people as the most happily married man they know). Favourite thing to do with my spare time - stay at home with the family.

So, what star sign do you reckon I am? Yup, Gemini.

Furthermore, my wife is a Capricorn and we were constantly told by believers that our signs are totally incompatible and our relationship wouldn't last 6 weeks...been together 21 years so far and love eachother more than ever.

chinese astrology doesnt need it so badly:p

idunno, can we do a little experiment?

You pose to me a series of questions about my personality, to which i will answer comppletely honestly - then with the information you have, you should be able to tell me my birthdate.

It will be a great demonstration of the validity of astrology.

What do you reckon?

Route 66 doesn't pass through Minnesota.

You know nothing about Minnesotans.

I'm not from Minnesota.

I know one hell of a lot more than you do about any subject that I value.

I also appreciate Shakespeare, Wodehouse, Laurie, and Frye more than you can imagine.

Um, complexity, not meaning to be rude, but his name is Fry, not Frye.

Carry on.

hang on idunno,

if birth time is so important, and you dont know randi's birthtime then how can you say:

on top of that Randi`s chart is full of his self element, which obviously means he can only see one point of view and attitude to life..his own

:boggled:

dam,

babylon sister beat me to it. And weak response from idunno there. But what did i expect?

i prefer Geoffrey Chaucer`s jokes about farts:D

shakespeare is for presumptious people whonthink are very cultured when they say « to be or not to be»

I think you actually mean pretentious. If you do mean presumptuous then I cannot understand what your point is.

Also, I don't think I've ever heard anyone actually say 'to be or not to be' who wasn't a) under 10 b) not taking the piss.

what the hell are you talking about? have you even read or seen a shakespeare play?

You're right.

I googled 'Stephen Frye' last night to check the spelling on his last name and the first think up was his official website, "The Adventures of Mr. Stephen Fry."

Being an utter idiot, I didn't recognize that google had helped me in spite of myself.

Must now think of an appropriate secular penance...

unfortunately even scientists and skeptics disagree betwen themselves. Just look at NDEs.

Amusingly astrologers and other woos disagree among themselves:
George W. has 7 degrees and 7 minutes of the sign Leo rising. His Sun is at 13 degrees and 47 minutes of Cancer. Now astrologers do not completely agree on the best way to divide the chart into houses, but in George W.’s case almost all systems would agree that Bush’s Sun is in the Twelfth House.

:boggled:

Im gonna ask Cainer if he knew his time of birth:mad:

Of course Cainer will be 100% honest in his answer? Seems to be a no-win proposition. If he says “yes”?

If he says “no”, the follow up question would be “then why did you participate, or not say something…why were you so desperate in trying to prove your reading of Hugh was right given you were lacking this apparently CRITICAL piece of information?”

While you are at it, you should ask Randi the same question (wrt the birth time) as well...and then the follow up "did Cainer object at any time?"

Watch A Ben Affleck movie? nah, too cruel...

Ok, I've got one now, but you're not going to like it: Listen to Wuthering Heights by Kate bush.

I also love Shakespeare - in fact I've seen 167 productions of his plays - and I think I can safely say I'm neither presumptuous or pretentious. idunno must hang out with some very strange people if he thinks the ability to quote "To be or not to be" is some sort of character defect.

Mind you, I'm an Aquarius so I would say that, wouldn't I?
