I don't think anyone is going to notice...

It was a bit of bad luck that your post caught the attention of the only wrestling fan at JREF forums..:D

Subgenius, about DARE, a guy knocked on my door Saturday looking for donations to expand Dare to kindergarten thru grade school. I politely dismissed him unfortunately. What kind of solution is expanding a proven failed program?

You must be a dope dealer.:p

Quite a high-brow discussion (too deep for me, but interesting conclusion):

Rights, Animal and Human

"At present I cannot prove that the idea of animal rights is extraordinarily dangerous and inhumane; to get proof of this, we’ll have to wait until the disastrous consequences of the idea reveal themselves over the next century or so. But I strongly suspect that it’s a dangerous idea, and accordingly I suspect that the promoters of this idea, whatever their intentions, are enemies of the human race."
(David R. Carlin is Professor of Philosophy and Sociology at the Community College of Rhode Island)

"Animal rights activists would like nothing more than for the government to come in and outlaw all those activities with which they disagree. You don't need to be genius to realize that our quality of life would drop sharply. As if the government didn't already have too much control over our lives. Such a vast assault on our personal liberty would set this country firmly into a collectivist nightmare. Some people don't realize that Hitler attempted to enforce the same twisted ideals espoused by today's animal rightists. Once Hitler had succeeded in making humans and animals nearly equal legally, he had no trouble at all rounding up millions Jews, who he claimed were another human animal, and putting them in concentration camps where they were then treated worse than any animal."

PETA and other animal extremists vigorously diasavow any Hitler analogy, and the extent of anti-vivesection laws in Nazi Germany is open to question.
I think however the above point is valid, and one can see the weirdness of doing violence to humans to protect animals, as PETA and others do.
I believe some of the extremists' views come from a strange self-loathing.

Sorry to go on and on but I liked this:
"Animal rightists' position was best summed up by a statement by Ingrid Newkirk, cofounder and national director of PETA, when she said, "I don't believe human beings have the 'right to life.' That's a supremacist perversion. A rat is a pig is a dog is a boy." Besides, much of the money received by animal rights organizations goes toward sending out requests for more money. The rest, of course, is spent furthering their goal of returning mankind to the dark ages.

In conclusion, let me try and make clear the extensive and very disturbing agenda of the animal rights movement. These people want to take away livestock farming, ranching, hunting, trapping, horse and dog racing, fishing, circus animals, animal actors, animal-based biomedical research, and, yes, even your loving pets. What can possibly drive people who feel they must 'liberate' these wretched creatures from their 'enslavement' by humans? What could motivate these activists to go to our elementary schools and tell kids that milk, meat, and fish are bad for them, and that their parents who hunt are murderers? What could cause Dr. Regan, who, when given the hypothetical choice between saving a retarded baby or a bright dog from a capsized boat, to say, "as difficult as it is, the right thing to do would be to sacrifice the child?" PETA is quite right: there are many atrocities committed against animals; but they are committed by PETA and similar groups. If you truly care about the welfare of animals, don't believe the lies PETA constantly proclaims about the treatment of animals on farms and in labs. Rather, take a stand for animals and people alike by taking a stand against animal rights. It's the right thing to do.

How many Kodiak bears are left?

The current population is at equilibrium with their ecosystem.

Management of the Kodiak brown bear in Alaska has been very successful at maintaining the vitality and population density of this second-largest land predator.

I don't find the quote that's attributed to me.
And I don't understand what you mean.
But then I'm not too bright.

Has anyone bothered to figure out what the hell we're supposed to eat? Or are we supposed to simply wither away and die? Sounds like that idiotic voluntary extinction group.

Ingrid Newkirk has been spewing her bilge for years, supporting whack jobs who commit violent acts against people who are trying to save lives. The University of California, Davis, had to install extensive (and expensive) security systems because ALF and its groupies (probably students at UCD, and if you live in the area, you know what I'm talking about) destroyed a lab and its contents. The material destroyed, and the accompanying data, for the most part belonged to grad students trying to complete their degrees.

Newkirk isn't simply an idiot; she's a genocidal bitch who won't consider her work complete until she's had the opportunity to watch large segments of the population dying painfully. Too bad it's not her or her kids who will endure such misery. I'm sure she has some sort of a philosophical "out" that allows her to make use of medical advances that have come from animal testing.
