John McCain Diagnosed With Brain Cancer

Just when everyone thought he was a party man, he turns around and kicks the GOP in the goolies.

I wonder if The Pidget is going to tweet something tasteless like "I think the vote should be nullified because McCain is not right in the brain!"

IMO, I think he is still largely a party man. I do think he really did not want the bill to pass, but I am of the opinion that his no vote was more to save other senators from being primary'd rather than out of objection to the bill by allowing some senators who were against the bill to vote "yes" without having to worry about it passing. If all the other 48 senators had really on board, his vote may have been different.

Maybe, but since this is almost certainly his farewell tour, he can theoretically do what he wants without worrying about the opinions of either his colleagues or Arizona voters. For the first time, he could actually act like the "maverick" he pretended to be for so long.

Senator Johnson says the brain tumor might be to blame for the ACA vote.

“Again, I’m not gonna speak for John McCain — he has a brain tumor right now — [but] that vote occurred at 1:30 in the morning. Some of that might have factored in,” Johnson continued.

Host Amy Jacobson replied, “Really?”

“You really think that played a factor in his judgment call?” she asked.

“Again, I-I-I don’t know exactly what — we really thought — and again I don’t want speak for any senator,” Johnson said. “I really thought John was going to vote yes to send that to conference at 10:30 at night. By about 1, 1:30, he voted no. So you have talk to John in terms of what was on his mind.”

Yep, according to Republicans, everyone should have the vote.
Apart from the women, children, slaves, idiots and people who aren't really our kind of people.

I wonder whether she has a tumor which played a factor in her decision to say "played a factor".

I am surprised the last post in this thread was already more than a year ago. Surprised McCain has lived this long.

I read yesterday in a German news outlet (spiegel.de, I presume) that he has decided to stop all treatment of his brain cancer, which at this point apparently is chemo therapy. That decision would also include not going for any future surgery or radiation therapy in case of new tumor growth.

In my estimation, this means the final weeks are upon him. I see no further public appearance, as the tumor will from now on inhibit organic functions inside the brain more and more from weeek to week, perhaps day to day, until some day a lethal threshold is reached.

I went through this with my girl friend in 2011. A recidivism of her glioblastoma was found in mid August. It was then decided that chemo therapy obviously no longer worked to check tumor growth, and to discontinue it (I still have the last pill of Temozolomide, which was already bought and payed for at that time; it cost €3,500!). It was also decided that the tumor was impossible to cut out mechanically due to its location, and that the brain could not tolerate another regime of tumor-busting radiation. So the rest was palliative care. We were still able to travel at the end of August, in the second half of September I brought her to the hospital to control pain, at the end of September we moved into a hospice, on October 5, she died - less than 2 months after the decision to stop cancer treatment altogether.

In those last 3 weeks, it was like watching a house from outside at night, where someone is going from room to room to switch out the lights. I imagine that's what it will feel like (or perhaps already does) to John McCain's family. :(

My condolences to you, Oystein. What a horrible thing to go through. Having lost my father to cancer that had spread to his brain, I can empathize.

McCain is gone.

I wonder what the commander-in-ept is going to tweet.

McCain was a good man before he became a RINO! Too bad He didn't want Me to give his eulogy. He has asked Barack HUSSEIN Obama to give It. I give the best eulogies. SAD!

I think he was a good man who truly loved his country. Sure, he made mistakes, but he made them with the best intentions.

He will be missed.
