John McCain Diagnosed With Brain Cancer

Disagree, hopefully he stays out of it since he's just a rino and it would be another chance to get rid of a squish republican. Then we can be closer to being like your favourite party with having no dissent.
My favorite party - what are you talking about? Me, personally? Or are you using the generic "you," a dodge that makes it look less like you're being nasty to a particular person?

Also, be careful of lapsing into British spelling. Real American conservatives don't have "favourites."

Dude ... if someone gets the Republican nomination ... it's safe to call them Republicans. Except maybe when you're talking about Donald Trump. There are better terms to describe Trump. "Good Christian," maybe?

This is not the first time he's lapsed into British spelling. Could it be that logger is not a real American?

That would be rich. LOL

Now, it seems that Republicans that are not in lock step with the President
are rinos or squishy.

No true Republican.

Unless....Ward is a true Republican, she's been grave dancing for a while.

“I’m a doctor. The life expectancy of the American male is not 86. It’s less,” Ward said in the August 2016 interview, adding later: “He’s become pretty sour. A pretty sour old guy.”

In another interview with MSNBC’s Chuck Todd that same day, Ward suggested that McCain should retire and said she knows “what happens to the body and the mind at the end of life.”

She's a doctor, but not McCain's doctor.
Gotta say, she sounds cold blooded.
Almost reptilian.

;)

Professor annoyed at support for John McCain

http://www.abc15.com/news/san-diego-state-professor-makes-controversial-facebook-post

"Professor of political science Jonathan Graubart posted "I find myself annoyed at the groundswell of good wishes for John McCain after his diagnosis of glioblastoma and have been thinking through why."

Graubart goes on to call McCain "a war criminal" and said "ultimately what troubles me is the urge to send such well wishes to an utter stranger as it reinforces the notion that some lives are more important than others."

What a load of horse manure. All a ground swell of well wishing means is that people sympathize with someone who has a horrific disease. We tend to send well wishes to anyone when we hear they have such an illness, at least I do, and it has been my general experience that most others seem to as well. My wife has been fighting cervical cancer for over two and half years and complete strangers send her well wishes all the time through Facebook ,e-mail, and even occasionally random phone calls simply because they hear about her illness from a friend, church, coworker, support group, etc. No kidding, she has literally gotten random calls from complete strangers offering prayers and well wishes simply because they happen to hear about her illness from a friend or coworker and actually take the time to track down her phone number. The only difference is that McCain happens to be famous, so more people hear of his illness, which means more well wishers. It is no way implies that one life is more valuable than another and his comments are insulting to good sense. It takes a really crappy human being to criticize people simply for offering support for someone in a bad way.

Did I quote you? That's strange I could have sworn that went to Bruto?

The only thing I can guess is the site must originate from the UK. Ive changed the spelling so many times I quit doing it awhile ago.

She's very probably wrong, too.

While it is true that, for example for American males, life expectancy AT BIRTH was only 76.3 years in 2015, this increases the older a person is now. The linked table shows, at the bottom, that white males who are already 75 years old have a life expectancy of 11.2 years - they look at averaging 86.2 years till they die. McCain is already 80 - those in his age group that are still alive will probably reach close to 90 years on average.

(But McCain himself won't, of course. His cancer will relapse and he will be dead in less than 3 years)

I don't have to be the one addressed to completely lose patience with people who use the term "RINO," but yes, this was in response to something Bruto said.

Eisenhower, Goldwater and Reagan would all be RINOs according to some blowhards who call themselves conservatives. And of course Nixon, but that goes without saying.

ETA: and George W. Bush, though I'm not sure about his dad. Probably him too.

I'm happy to let you answer as it saves me the trouble of trying to do so without violating decorum.

So you can't stand the term "rinos" but you're perfectly fine with calling people blowhards?

Some people just are.

If you're a registered Republican, you're a Republican. Me, for example.

I see McCain is going back to D.C. for the health bill vote. I may be done with him after that.

So this is one of the problems I have with CNN:

Sen. John McCain, recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer, will make a dramatic return to the Senate Tuesday to cast a critical vote on health care legislation.

McCain's office announced Monday night he will return Tuesday. His return will amount to a surprise to most Republicans, who expected him to miss the crucial vote and return to Washington at a later date. But he could help the GOP deliver a critical vote to begin debating health care legislation, which is on the verge of collapsing.

Critical, crucial, critical in 2 paragraphs
"His return will amount to a surprise to most Republicans ... " is actually code for "CNN is surprised to announce this."

This is a lovers' spat, I still value CNN for breaking news. I wasn't aware however that Tuesday's vote would be on whether to begin debating health care - I thought this was going to be a substantive vote.

RTFM. It's your settings, not the site. Don't wait for Big Brother to fix it. Pick yourself up by your bootstraps like Donnie would do.

It's pretty substantive when the Republicans have been trying to push their garbage through without open debate.

No, I agree, but I also thought this would be a squeaker on actual passage. Like, if there was a tie Pence would break it and this would be the bill, period. It would be sent off to be reconciled with the House bill.

I don't expect McCain to stick his neck out on a procedural step. If he was healthy enough I'd like him to hold out for a bipartisan solution, but he's not, and given the sheer vile hatred that would be directed at him I don't blame him anyway.

CNN also said (on air) that he was going to get a hero's welcome. Democrats may not actually feel that way ...

Don't forget the dishonesty here, after McCain said the health care bill should fail so it can be addressed like a regular bill, not this 51 vote shenanigans.

And the hypocrisy in taking health care away from millions while he gets cadillac treatment on the taxpayer's dime.
