John Edward - psychic or what?

I consume the written word at a rapid rate, with acceptable comprehension. In later grades of elementary school that was around 1000 wpm. Funny enough I don't remember what grade that placement test was in, but that was the fastest score that year of anyone in my grade in the Santa Clara County Unified School District. At least that's what they told my parents two months later when they were baffled why I was getting C's instead of A's. Typical of ADHD, short term memory loss with often photographic recollection of episodic long term memory.

Another anecdote.

Ad hominems are not necessary, even when craftily implied.

Each of our human faults can be assumed to be somewhat different. I display more than enough. Including not knowing when to walk away from arguments.
You've won...RUN NOW, while you still can! It's too late for me , save yourself!!!

Won?

Tell me, please, what your thoughts are concerning batvette's contention that John Edward is a fraud and how your disagreement reconciles with the implication that neither of you can be wrong.

Hi Garrette, my answer is simple. Batvette is right about telepathy but wrong about John Edward. Hey, nobody's perfect!

I trust you include yourself and your perceptions in that assessment?

So how would an outside and objective observer determine which conclusions of yours are correct and which of batvette's are correct?

Trust his gut.

So if somebody agrees with what you say, they are right, and if they disagree with you they are wrong. You are the only arbiter of right and wrong.

Got it.

I read all the posts and I believe Batvette proved his point in the debate (with regard to telepathy) while others did not. Hands down. But I'm biased, remember? : )

What point?

By what criteria? It gets back to my last post. How would an outside, objective observer make that determination?

Yes, you are. The point is: what have you done to control for your bias in your evaluations?

Again simple...I am very aware of my biases. I'm smart enough to remain very aware of my biases while evaluating. That, and I use my common sense. Has common sense ever been proven to exist?

So, the most important thing to you was that you had recently purchased a new Fridge, a tooth, and that Theatre tickets to a has been actress are somehow vital to those living in "the other world" and this is all that the dead wanted to talk about. Do you really not understand how silly that sounds?

If there is anything more mundane than the above when you are talking to dead people, I would like to know about it. Maybe he really, really needed to talk about what you had for breakfast that morning. That WOULD be important.

Apart from mundane things that happen to everybody every day of the week, what important things did you discover from Edward and his all girl Orchestra?

Being aware is not remotely equivalent to controlling for. The fact that you think it is is not only your problem but the problem of many paranormal researchers who are basically honest but terribly blinded to their errors.

And to paraphrase Voltaire, common sense is quite rare. To add my own twist, common sense is not remotely scientific and makes a good place to start an analysis but a terrible one to end it.

Finally, I note your avoidance of the criteria questions.

Garrette, could love ever be proven to be real? Do you believe in love? Do you love your kids? Prove it.

At risk of providing you a false excuse to avoid my last post:

1. The existence of the emotion of love, as well as the existence of other states of mind is a neuro physiological matter and has been proven. Should you wish to discuss it, I will be happy to join you in another thread after you have answered the pertinent questions here (otherwise I would have no evidence upon which to conclude that you would answer pertinent questions there).

2. My recent comments and questions have not been about the proof but about your criteria and how an observer could apply them. Those criteria remain mysterious.
