You're not wrong but "If we don't get justice here it doesn't matter because we'll get justice later" rubs me the wrong way.

Oh absolutely, I was just implying that a statewide pardon still wouldn't relieve them of their poor decisions. They still have a lengthy trial ahead of them.

Frankly, I have no idea how they're affording this all. I mean, being totally honest we already know Travis moved home because he couldn't afford to live on his own. While I'm sure his parents were comfortable I can't imagine they'd have 6 digits in savings, and even a cheap attorney on a case like this will run up a significant amount of billables. I wonder if that will play a role in the federal trial?

Probably a lot of racist throwing money their way as just one battle in the culture war they are fighting against *checks note* the tyranny of not being able to wantonly murder black people in the street for no reason.

I kind of thought the same, but I can't even find a gofundme lol. Usually there's one on there, but I guess it doesn't have to be public. Each defendant has 2 lawyers, so it has to be running a decent sized bill. I suppose they might give a discount for name recognition but 2 of the 3 sets have come out looking like racist idiots lol. Man, what a trial.

If anyone is as bored as me, I have the below youtube link running on my 3rd monitor. Just waiting for a verdict.

Jurors are asking for clarifying video from Roddie's camera. I'm not 100% sure what exact spot they're looking for, but I believe they said they wanted to watch the half-speed video at the point where Roddie picked his camera back up again.

ETA: They're bringing the panel back in the room and they're going to play 3 videos again, 3 times. So each video 3 times a piece. The full video, the high contrast video and the half-speed video.

ETA2: It appears they're going to play the 911 call as well. Popehat says you can never reasonably judge what's happening by stuff like this, but I kind of expected they'd want to see this stuff again. No way you remember it all from the first time through.

That's not good.

Really hard to tell. If they're trying to figure out Roddie's involvement, or see what they can hear on the video, it's not all that shocking. If you were deciding something like this you'd probably want to see it all again.

So many possible scenarios that it's hard to read anything from it.

They're now starting the full video for the jury starting at the point that Roddie picks his phone back up after setting it on the seat. Exhibit 190 I believe they said.

ETA: They're watching it a total of 3 times a piece per video. So far I've heard 6 gun shots, so there's 1 more replay.

I am very hopeful they might do the right thing and acquit all three on all charges, but I'm worried that they're just putting on a show of "oh let's make it look like we're deliberating, but ultimately we all want to be out of here today and we'll convict them so there aren't riots"

Hope I'm wrong.

You are going to be extremely disappointed. They are all going to be found guilty of something, except maybe, MAYBE Roddie. I'm holding out a slight bit of possibility that Roddie might skate, but it's doubtful.

And as I said, this is only step 1. They have another federal trial after this as well.

Wow - such predictive powers - what are the winning Lotto numbers this weekend?

Since we're just writing fan-fiction, I hope the jury walks out with shotguns and lets loose a volley on the three murderers, putting this whole thing to a speedy conclusion.

The whole "Oh why I just can't even imagine why anybody could even consider the possibility of them being guilty" every 3rd post routine is just bait.

Our board's resident trollacist doesn't bother me, other then that PTB's ease with keeping him around. The half dozen active posters who say the exact same thing and try to put on "Oh I'm not racist" airs do.

Own it like he does you cowards.

Seems to me the most likely cause for jury delay is how to deal with Roddie. His involvement provides the most source for nuance, though it seems pretty thin to me. Maybe he slides out of the noose for now with a hung jury, but I imagine after some deliberation this turd gets flushed with the other two.

I'm not even sure at this point which would be sweeter... the satisfaction of knowing that these good men who were doing the right thing avoided unwarranted punishment? Or getting to watch the enraged meltdowns in here and elsewhere?

Sadly I really do think you are all almost certainly right that they are screwed and headed for heavy duty convictions.

I'd imagine Greg might be giving them some pause too, which might be why they requested the 911 call. They could be determining his level of involvement. There are two different murder charges here. With it being a 9 count indictment there could be issues picking and choosing as well.
