I guess Jesse did not read the book Obama wrote in which he states that "We were always playing on the white man's court . . . by the white man's rules," he writes. "If the principal, or the coach, or a teacher . . . wanted to spit in your face, he could, because he had the power and you didn't. . . . The only thing you could choose was withdrawal into a smaller and smaller coil of rage.

"And the final irony: should you refuse this defeat and lash out at your captors . . . they would have a name for that too. Paranoid. Militant."


Politics are fun if you pay attention beyond the last sound bite.

It was funny watching Al Sharpton try to explain to Hannity why Jesse Jackson doesn't deserve the same treatment Imus got. Sharpton's response was that Imus knew what he was saying was public while Jackson thought it was a private conversation. :jaw-dropp

You can always count on Jackson to demonstrate that Christian love.:boggled:

This is good for Obama. This gives all those not paying attention to Obama and his racism a view that Jesse Jackson being upset with Obama means that Obama is not racist.

That's because some media banned it from advertising, so Huffington naturally backed it up, IIRC.

And it would be different if it was Obama. On Bush it is a play on his name, on Obama it would be a play on his race.

Not saying it makes it right, but it isn't directly comparable. A more apt comparison would be an advertisement about "Barack Hussein Osama" or something like that.

I still say it's far over the line. I just submitted a "news tip" to the Huffington Post:

The popular internet newspaper/blog "The Huffington Post" recently posted a picture of President Bush with a bone through his nose and the caption "Bushmen" as part an advertisement for an itunes download. This ridiculously racist ad appeared, ironically, on the same page as a story covering the AMA's apologies for past racism. This is surely going to damage the Post's credibility.

Yes, doing it to either of them is obviously implying that Bushmen are stupid, uncivilized savages and what have you.

Which is rather ironic since we owe our existence to the skill of the Bushmen in surviving such unimaginably harsh conditions.

The Huffington Post doesn't really have any credibility to begin with. It is helpful sometimes, but that is the exception, not the rule.
 
I'm trying to understand what Jesse means when he says Obama's statements on faith-based thingamabobs are "talking down to black people." Any insights?
