It's Friday the 13th...

Sigh. Well, I survived. Unfortunately, my computer didn't. I had my very first hard drive crash, apparently related directly to something I did (rather than attributing it to "spooks".)

Still, losing 240 gb of data is almost akin to having a house fire.

I had backed up most of my stuff three months ago. Oh, I recently created a system restore disk and backed up the registry, but that's no good when there's a physical problem. I can't quite figure out how my doing a disk cleanup could make a drive unreadable/unbootable. I've done that sort of thing before.

I've already had to replace two memory cards, a CD drive, and now the hard drive, all since last October. THANK

Well, I was in for some rather major surgery on Friday 13th, and a few people commented on the fact. A few others seemed loathe to mention it - I think they thought I was nervous enough! However, I have never worried about Friday 13th, and my surgery went much better than expected. I also had an additional problem identified and resolved by the op, and I am making a better recovery than expected.

A Good day, all in all, and all I remember is a fuzzy warm feeling.

This discussion of superstitions reminds me of the fact that I've travelled by air for two consecutive Sept. 11ths and that numbers are hugely down for this day and booked out both the day before and after.
