It's Friday the 13th...

I've always had good feelings about Friday the 13th. When I was in middle school, in the early to mid 1970s, it was one of those schools where they let the kids do the coursework at their own pace. In math, you'd study a section, then go to a testing room to be tested on it whenever you felt ready. On Friday the 13th, they would give an extra ten points to compensate! So on those days, I would always score 110.

HAHAHAHAHAHA :D

My girlfriend's father had his heart attack on friday the thirteenth. I offered to look up all the people who didn't have one on a friday the thirteenth but she told me not to. :D

Well.. I work in a machine/repair shop, and still have all my fingers.
I also got a rather large cash bonus today.
Friday the 13th rules !!

I have been cautious and so far, fortunately, nothing has gone wrong at all. I attribute this to a favourable day astrologically, my swag of charms, talismans and amulets and the fact that I'm typing this from under my bed...

Goddamn Friday 13th,Ive just spillled some milk in the kitchen! How anyone can say its poppycock is beyond me;)

I had a rather unfortunate encounter with a one-eyed black cat this morning . . .

. . . fur all over my new pink blouse when he left my lap.

Additionally, hello! What better day for a first post. If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go play several very unlucky games of Nethack.

Good one! I had a boyfriend once who blamed his divorce from his first wife on the fact that they were married on Friday the 13th.

He didn't have that excuse when I dumped his sorry butt, though.

Well, actually pretty good... I found a hard-to-find MegaTraveller source book for 5 bucks at a local used book store. Other than that, pretty much same-old-same old.

I think Fri 13th is not what people say it is.

Sure, Yesterday I had a stream of very unfortunate events but I know for a fact that it was becoz I ran over a black cat yesterday morning, not coz of some silly number.

By the way does anyone know how to change your luck back to normal after you've broken a mirror? I broke one yesterday. See, here the normal penalty is 7 years but I heard that it's only 4 years in another state. Please help.

No, problem, Miss Jinx. All you have to do is pick up the pieces and use them to slice the cat, then throw the slices over your left shoulder if you're right-handed. If you are left-handed, use a small dog.
By the way, Fri 13th ended here 8½ hours ago. I'm still here, but I still can't send or receive emails, so I don't know if the other Danish skeptics made it.

I beg your pardon??

I did. No word from the others, though....

Friday the 13th is not what it was. When I was a kid we had plagues of boils and infestations of head lice on Friday thirteenth. Nowadays, you're lucky if you get a dozen spam emails and a blue screen of death.

I spent yesterday in hospital. The general anaesthetic was interesting and jolly effective. If anything dire happened, nobody told me. Nothing wildly wrong was discovered. I'm so healthy, they want me back for more tests, as this pushes their cure stats up.

I even survived the toilets (very clean) and the post-op sandwiches and coffee.

I don't know what the world is coming to, really.

My little black cat enjoyed Friday 13th, but somehow lost her legs by the end of the day. Is that considered unlucky?

No. Just very, very careless.

Messy room. :p

Yeah, my office after she knocked down a box ( you can see it behind the chair on the left). I cleaned it up though! That's her chair she's sitting on - and she's sitting there right this minute! Apparently the curse wore off and her legs reunited themselves with her. Darn detachable legs....

That is one of the nicest things about having a cat. You can always blame any mess on the critter...

Oh absolutely. She's responsible for not getting the taxes done and the unpaid off credit card. Bad cat!

A common effect of shutting off the Improbability Drive.

Run-of-the-mill day, quite good night:D .

Most fantastic Friday 13th effect-

pisco + beer = NO HANGOVER AT ALL

I could use more unlucky days like that!!!

Sigh. Well, I survived. Unfortunately, my computer didn't. I had my very first hard drive crash, apparently related directly to something I did (rather than attributing it to "spooks".)

Still, losing 240 gb of data is almost akin to having a house fire.

I had backed up most of my stuff three months ago. Oh, I recently created a system restore disk and backed up the registry, but that's no good when there's a physical problem. I can't quite figure out how my doing a disk cleanup could make a drive unreadable/unbootable. I've done that sort of thing before.

I've already had to replace two memory cards, a CD drive, and now the hard drive, all since last October. THANK YOU DELL!!! Since it was a RAID 0, the data was split between my two drives and it doesn't matter that only the one is down, the files are trashed.

Well, there's still my Windows 98...
