Split Thread Islamic takeover

Dearborn Michigan. If you look past WSJ headlines, that is.
Journalist Sues Dearborn and Its Mayor for Anti-Christian, Anti-Jewish Discrimination (September 18. 20269)

When a local pastor condemned officials for naming a busy intersection after Hezbollah-supporter Osama Siblani in September 2025, Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud (above in 2024) called the pastor “an Islamophobe,” declaring: “I want you to know as mayor, you are not welcome here. And the day you move out of the city will be the day that I launch a parade celebrating the fact that you moved out of the city because you are not somebody who believes in coexistence.”

Here's what really irks me about all these claims, now that I think of it. My very family life is a testimony to middle eastern assimilation.

Aside from things like living near a growing and assimilating middle eastern population (including my primary care physician), my ex-wife is middle-eastern. We were married in a Christian church, although she came from a (non-practicing) Islamic family. Both of my boys are 50% middle eastern, and 100% American. My older son graduated from the Naval Academy. His mom was at the graduation, cheering him on. She also enjoyed watching Keeping Up Appearances and listening to U2 and Julio Iglesias.
Unfortunately, cases of Muslims who do assimilate do not negate cases of Muslims who do not.

Let's look at a problem in my country that IS directly linked to immigration and how our right wing handles it.

Now, as per every other country, refugees are not 'just allowed in'. If you immigrate you get relegated to an immigration center where your immigration claim is checked and you need to follow an integration course before you are allowed to join society. So exactly what rightwingers want.
However, at the moment these centers are overcrowded and understaffed. And that means large amounts of people with nothing to do, who often do not like each other, even fellow Muslims, because fellow Muslims have as much variation as Christianity and as much love for each other. And they can be stuck there for years as the process is slow due to the ever increasing amount of demands on integration due to right wing policies.
And yes large groups of bored and desperate people do cause local issues. Usually things like shoplifting and not paying for public transport and getting argumentative when confronted.

Now this could be solved. The slow process by allocating more money to have enough staff present. But any time that is suggested the (alt) right comes up in arms as there should never go money to dealing with immigration.
The overcrowding could be solved by creating more, smaller, immigration centers across the country. But every time a city council shows willingness a large group of violent, masked, white men show up in the city to protest. Often by setting fire to the potential location and threatening the major and city council. While some of these protestors are local, the vast majority has been shown to be a hard core of alt right thugs, organized via X who just show up at any city that seems to be open to humanitarian aid. Who for some reason are never arrested for arson and or violence.

And at the same time these alt right groups keep pushing the narrative that immigrants are inherently violent and cause crime pointing at the very problem they prevent solving. While also committing far worse crimes than the immigrants themselves.

I presume she is an ex because you discovered she was a sleeper agent for the Islamic takeover.....

it is just scary who so many people don't realize that the entire Migration "Debate" is a distraction.
Even if there are problems (there are problems with everything), in no Western Country is Migration a Top Ten Issue affecting the well-being of the citizenry. So many other things would have a dramatically higher impact on the economy than spending more money on harsh migration crackdowns.
It's all about Vibes, not Facts. I think no one but the most insane would argue that the money Trump is spending on ICE will somehow pay off in economic growth.

After our trip to Bradford (a modest city centre but litter free, which makes it better than Glasgow) for a curry, can anyone recommend a no go zone for us to visit? I hear there are such places in the UK.

I know what you meant. I don't think you understand (or concede) the implications of the British right to arbitration being used to establish courts that arbitrate disputes under Sharia law.
What are the implications of the right to arbitration being used to establish courts that arbitrate disputes under religious law? We've had them for hundreds of years, so the consequences should be noticeable by now.

We went the rounds with this in a thread years ago, so to try and summarise. In the UK for most civil disputes the two parties can agree to arbitration, it is up to the two parties if they want to use an arbitration tribunal or not, you can also pretty much elect to use anyone as an arbitrator. As an example in most contracts the two parties will agree that if there are disputes arising from the contract they will accept a KC being the arbitrator.

Arbitration tribunals cannot make decisions that breach your rights or other statutory laws and there are laws that regulate how they carry out their function.

(It turns out the situation is very similar in most states in the USA, hardly surprising given this was already a right long before the USA even existed and the USA tended to follow English common law.)

This link will take you to the latest legislation (covers all the UK except Scotland)

A good summary explanation https://www.summitlawllp.co.uk/legal-guide-to-arbitration/

We've had a thread about the ones in London. I tried to organise a pub crawl.

Yes, but what are the 'implications' of allowing arbitration by religious courts? Is it just that it allows some people to conflate Sharia courts with Sharia law?
