Many of whom will be as Spanish, whatever that means, as Abooga.Of the 25 and under, it's 11%. I imagine that for Egypt, at one point the Muslim population was also 5% or less. Demographics is destiny.

The right to have a Sharia court impose your will over your wife? You do know that those rights go back to the 17th century? I certainly don’t want to lose that right.

Unfortunately, cases of Muslims who do assimilate do not negate cases of Muslims who do not. Here's what really irks me about all these claims, now that I think of it. My very family life is a testimony to middle eastern assimilation.
Aside from things like living near a growing and assimilating middle eastern population (including my primary care physician), my ex-wife is middle-eastern. We were married in a Christian church, although she came from a (non-practicing) Islamic family. Both of my boys are 50% middle eastern, and 100% American. My older son graduated from the Naval Academy. His mom was at the graduation, cheering him on. She also enjoyed watching Keeping Up Appearances and listening to U2 and Julio Iglesias.

Does that apply to people of all religions?Unfortunately, cases of Muslims who do assimilate do not negate cases of Muslims who do not.
I presume she is an ex because you discovered she was a sleeper agent for the Islamic takeover.....Here's what really irks me about all these claims, now that I think of it. My very family life is a testimony to middle eastern assimilation.

The right to use arbitration. The right to have a Sharia court impose your will over your wife?
I know what you meant. I don't think you understand (or concede) the implications of the British right to arbitration being used to establish courts that arbitrate disputes under Sharia law.The right to use arbitration.

What are the implications of the right to arbitration being used to establish courts that arbitrate disputes under religious law? We've had them for hundreds of years, so the consequences should be noticeable by now.I know what you meant. We went the rounds with this in a thread years ago, so to try and summarise. In the UK for most civil disputes the two parties can agree to arbitration, it is up to the two parties if they want to use an arbitration tribunal or not, you can also pretty much elect to use anyone as an arbitrator. As an example in most contracts the two parties will agree that if there are disputes arising from the contract they will accept a KC being the arbitrator. What are the implications of using the right to arbitration being used to establish courts that arbitrate disputes under religious law? We've had a thread about the ones in London. I tried to organise a pub crawl. After our trip to Bradford (a modest city centre but litter free, which makes it better than Glasgow) for a curry, can anyone recommend a no go zone for us to visit? I hear there are such places in the UK.
Yes, but what are the 'implications' of allowing arbitration by religious courts? Is it just that it allows some people to conflate Sharia courts with Sharia law?We went the rounds with this in a thread years ago, so to try and summarise. Arbitration tribunals cannot make decisions that breach your rights or other statutory laws and there are laws that regulate how they carry out their function.
(It turns out the situation is very similar in most states in the USA, hardly surprising given this was already a right long before the USA even existed and the USA tended to follow English common law.)
