Do vegetarians realise that canibalism is only known where the natives had NO large domestic animals? If you are protein starved, you betcha you are going to gain your enemies strength if you eat his high grade protein muscles.

Actually, alimentary cannibalism is very rare and only occurs in cases of extreme survival conditions (like soccar players crash landed in the Andes, and the Donner party). Most cannibalism was ritual (brain eating) as a way to absorb the power, or ingest the life force of the one eaten. The label of "cannibalism" was overused in the past. Societies that were in conflict often labeled the enemy as cannibals to make them appear sub-human.
