Is the USA too big?

Do we really need Texas? They refer to themselves as "The Lone Star State". If they want to be "Lone Star" then let them go. If Texas was independent they would probably take over Mexico like they always wanted to do. "Remember the Alamo!". Houston or Mexico City - no difference. Same smog, heat, crime etc. Except Texans are proud of it. And everybody in Texas already speaks "Spanish" so it'd be an easy thing to do.

Spanglish, actually.

Anyway, everyone knows Texas is the most important state. We are producing Presidents and Vice Presidents at a prodigous rate - did you know that Eisenhower was born in Texas too? Plus we have the Dallas Cowboys, a/k/a America's Team. And Tex-Mex is the best Mexican food this side of the border (or the other side for that matter).

Its about time you said something that I agree with. :p

I think we should reconfigureteh US. Do we really need 2 Dakotas!!!! They have 4 Senators vs Washington Dc's ZERO. Thast crazy in the land that started off with "taxation wh/o representation".

You may have something. We could merge both Dakotas and Nebraska into one half decent state.

And we could hire a brand name firm to come up with a new name for the merged states. Something like:

Centurex

Or if you prefer the more traditional:

Great Plains R Us

How about Wheatsconsin!

Why isnt their more of an outcry about DC getting the shaft. What ever happened to freedom? Heres our national capital chuck full of monuments to freedom and the cities 2 million citizens have no voice. Might as well live in Guam.

Canada joining the US? Not now. Maybe 10 years ago, when there was talk of Quebec splitting away from the rest of Canada, but not now (Due to the excellent job Mr. Chretien has done).
Canada is going in a direction with more social freedoms, and a bit less economic freedoms than the United States.Gun laws, gay marriage, death penalty, etc. are all important topics.

I, for one, would be midly uncomfortable with living in a country that bans two consentual partners from marrying because of an old book. (And yes, I know many americans think gays should marry. But the government doesn't.)
