So my answer to the OP question "is Louisiana flooding Obama's Katrina?" I say no, because it isn't a horrific catastrophe requiring the retooling of several major federal agencies to prevent from ever happening that badly again.

Neither was Sandy Obama's Katrina.

I've read whole books on all the screw ups in Katrina. I'm not seeing anything similar here with this disaster.

Not sure why it would crack you up, or even strike you as ironic. The people here are uber-informed on current events, relative to the average American. I learned about the scale of the disaster from perusing right-wing news sites, not from the mainstream media. If you want to try to justify your insinuation that the media coverage was adequate, then perhaps you can run some google searches to see. Here's a quote from an article supporting my claim. Note who the speaker is:

ETA: Here is the NY Times Public Editor calling out her newspaper for its lack of coverage:

Regarding the NYT, personally I would never send reporters or any unnecessary personnel into an emergency situation where their presence was essentially only to cover details for people who had no active need for those details and who could do nothing to change them. The only people who should be there are those who have no choice (live there and have not gotten out) and the official/semi-official people going in to rescue victims and help recovery!!!

Well, this sure seems over the top, but whatever.

So what's your take on Obama's decision not to take time out of his vacation to visit Louisiana? Do you think it's just fine and dandy? Do you think you would be criticizing Mitt Romney, if he were President now and doing the same thing?

Probably been said already by one of those who actually paid attention to the requests of Louisiana officials but he was asked not to by the governor (for the reasons I gave for reporters staying out shortly above). Trump was asked not to either, but, as usual - and being the flaming ******* he cannot resist being -
with stuff that was not what was really needed and pulled workers away from the real needs to show how brave and special he was.
