Yes, I suggest the Obama supporters in this thread try that. I'm genuinely surprised at the inability of even one of them here to admit that Obama has done anything wrong with respect to the Louisiana flooding.

Maybe that has something to do with your dogged frothing-mouth insistance that this whole event is comparable to one of the biggest clustereffs in Natural Disaster history. Golly, maybe people aren't as keen as you are to call this a Katrina-level screwup, in fact it is hard to call this a screwup of any kind beyond the possible bad optics.

Quite remarkable. I do imagine that some Obama supporters have been reading this thread and have declined to wade in to defend him (which they would do if they actually thought he was being unfairly attacked), so I guess that's a hopeful sign.

This is the low-rent equivelant of 'The lurkers support me in email.'

Seriously? "Not everyone came in to pound me with a shovel so I must be winning!" " That's your argument?

What specifically has Obama done "wrong" please? Links to relevant news thingies would help.

He never made a public statement about the Louisiana flooding, let alone held a press conference about it. He never interrupted his vacation, or even took some time out from engaging in an activity which is connected in most people's minds with conspicuous consumption and time-wasting leisure. He didn't bring publicity to a terrible natural disaster which was being largely ignored by the mainstream media, at least in the first few days. He didn't do the normal things that he has said in the past should be expected from a President.

We can talk about levies that couldn’t hold, about a FEMA that seem not just incompetent but paralyzed and powerless, about a president who only saw the people from a window on an airplane instead of down here on the ground, trying to provide comfort and aid,” Obama said [in 2008].

Here, in RealityLand (fun for all ages!) we understand that an Obama visit would take needed resources away from search and rescue. We actually heard the Louisiana government specifically ask Obama to stay away for the short term. Residents of Realville understand that Obama, even from a golf course got FEMA involved immediately.

What would a press conference do? The systems seem to be working very well and until things stabilize going there is not going to be useful.

I mean I guess they could break out the old Mission Accomplished banner and such but really that wouldn't do much.

What would a press conference do?

It would have publicized a worthy cause and perhaps attracted more private resources to bear in response.

I don't think you have much basis for making this claim. Just because problems haven't been reported yet doesn't mean they don't exist. I have yet to hear about any specific good thing that FEMA has done. Vague praise from partisans doesn't quite do it for me.

You've had days to find Brownie-level errors and have come up with nothing. No you go the full Woowoo route of saying that lack of evidence means others have to look harder? Spare us.

It's at this point when it's clear nothing will satisfy.

Do you have kids? Think when they are overly tired. They will cry and whine regardless of what you do.

No kids, but I do have a dumb cat. I can't imagine it's dissimilar.

He gets distracted very easily by noisy, shiny things.

 That is the most pathetic link I could have imagined. It says almost nothing. Please tell me that isn't all you got. :boggled:

It tells an intelligent reader that the FEMA response is calm and unpanicked, because Katrina failed the system so hard they made everyone down to Civil Air Patrol Cadets learn the Incident Command System and made every single county sheriff, fire department, municipal dispatch system and state trooper in the nation bring their radio systems into compliance with all the current standards so people could talk to one another on controlled nets.

I suggest everyone in the US Google your county or city name + police scanner stream and bookmark the results. You can also do this when traveling, because Internets.

This was your specific quote. (sorry)

Are these not specific enough?

To help support the response we've established two Incident Support Bases—staging areas for important commodities like blankets, cots, meals and water—so that they are ready and available should they be needed.

Mobile Emergency Response Teams and the people behind them have been deployed to one of the Incident Support Bases to support the state with voice, video and information services, helping bridge communications gaps for emergency response. And one of our Incident Management Assistance Teams was deployed to work hand-in-hand with state colleagues, to support response activities and ensure there are no unmet needs.

You and your kind continue to make a mockery of rationality.
