From what I read, this guy was born and raised a Hindu. His family is from the Punjabi tribe of Indians, known for their extreme Hindu nationalism.

Piyush "Bobby" supposedly converted to Christianity in high school, most likely to be more like his classmates, to get white chicks, and to get more future votes once he ran for office.

I fear he may have dark connections with his tribe back in Punjab. We should definately look into this guy and see what sorts of "connections" he has with Kashmir terrorists.

Jindal is a loony fundy Christian who has signed legislation to prevent the Theory of Evolution from being taught in Louisiana schools.

For that alone I would never consider him as a POTUS candidate.

This I did not know. No wonder he did not warm the cockles of my heart.

He's done good things for Louisiana. If it weren't for his christian fundamentalism I would be all for him running in 2012.

The loony Obama Birthers can't accept him either because neither of his parents were citizens when he was born.

Of course they would never accept him just because he is not "their kind."

I'm totally cool with there being a Jindal/Palin or Palin/Jindal ticket in 2012. It would send the GOP right where they need to be while we try to rebuild civilization. He blew his own foot off a very few minutes into his speech when he mentioned his encounter with the sheriff during the Katrina crisis. He mentions beurocrats keeping the locals from taking their boats in to rescue people. Has that moron forgotten who was running that operation? Does he not remember who appointed the unqualified poser who called himself in charge of FEMA?

Whether Hindu or true believing Catholic, JKindal is typical opf the dangerous religious fanatic. Not nearly as bright as he thinks himself to be.

But then, that, to my mind, is most of the GOP.

Now leave him alone and let him make his bid for POTUS.

He is really..and deservedly catching flak for his Volcano remark. That was pure stupid.

I don't like Jindal, but find your longing for a one party country to disturbing, comrade.

You know, that's all true. But if you set aside all that stuff about how silly it is to make an illustration about the failure of Republican governance the object lesson, even if this story made sense on some level...

What on Earth value does this small-bore BS have to do with the situation we're facing today? In response to Obama's actions and big speech about how he intends to deal with an unprecedented and staggering national crisis, Jindal's response is to tell a personal story about about some lunatic*, hick sheriff. You would think he'd use his time addressing the big problem with big-picture solutions. "Just come arrest me, and Bobby too" doesn't really stop the bloodletting of half a million jobs per month.

It was the Amateur Hour.

It's part of the anti-science agenda the GOP is trying to destroy itself with.

I wish the religious right would form their own Jesus Party, or that actual conservatives would split off and form their own party that isn't interested in promoting Jesus, bashing gays, and spending like drunken sailors.

lefty could always move here to the People's Democratic Republic of Cook County, it's a Utopia here...

To quote Chris Matthews, "A star was not born". And that suits me fine.

It's not an issue of a one party state. The issue is until the Republicans regain their own party from these creeps, we don't need them sneaking another Bush in under the radar. Look at the total mess this country is in.

As for volcano monitoring, that was one of the more foolish things Jindal's speech will be noted for. I say take the funds out of hurricane monitoring to pay for volcano monitoring. After all, Jindal thinks it was government, and not Bush's incompetence that left New Orleans in ruins after Katrina. So Jindal shouldn't need the government doing any incompetent hurricane monitoring anyway. Every NeoCon for himself.

I prefer they leave the early warning system intact and continue to monitor the volcanoes over here on the left coast. WA State's governor should invite Jindal to visit the Mt St Helens' visitor center. Hey, that's an idea. I think I'll send off an email or two making the suggestion.

Do you suppose Cook County's public hospital still has the highest ED death rate in the country? They used to hold that title.

His real name is Piyush, not Bobby (or Robert)?

Did not know that.

And yes, if he runs, there will probably be more birfers to question his eligibility and claim that he's a "secret Hindu" who wants to swear his confirmation oath on the Rig Veda or perhaps an idol of Hanuman the Monkey God.
