The Mormons could be considered as an abrahamic religion using your logic.

Islam did not have any roots as an abrahamic religion. It was contrived and fabricated centuries later and borrowed from the existing religions, just like the Mormon Cult did.

In fact I read it when I was seriously considering becoming a Muslim.

Here is what I think of the Koran from when I first read it. Do they have the term "brown noser" in Canada? In Brazil, they call it "apple polisher". The Koran is written as if the person is expecting you to be a "brown noser" to Allah. It is written in a tone praising Allah for being so full of mercy. God is not full of mercy.
