Now, imagine an entire presidential campaign based on nothing but this technique and I present to you: Donald Trump

...NAMBLA supporter, or so I've heard.

Yes, thanks, we get it. You needn't explain it.

Now that we're all in on the joke and understand the ever so insightful point, can we give it a rest?

Much thanks.

This is one time where the answer to a thread title might actually be "Yes," and emphatically so. It really does look like Khan was the significant turning point.

Who'd a thunk it? 'Twas patriotism killed the beast.

That'd be rather difficult to do assuming Clinton is elected. I don't think the Republicans can afford to be seen as that obstructionist for another four years; they've likely got folks coming up for reelection two years after this election in both the Senate and the House and they can't take the chance that they'd lose any more seats. As it is, they may lose the Senate just with this election, although we've still got three months until the actual election.

I'm voting early; so much easier than waiting in line on Election Day when you've either got to get to work or just got off work and want to go home. Although I'm sure there'll be a long line to vote early; there usually is in my area.

Vote early and vote often.

Okay, sorry for singling you out. And I didn't realize I was so far behind the thread.

Thanks, and my mistake.

Don't apologize, it's still funny. The funny expired, but now it's coming back as a kind of retro-funny, with a bit of satirical self-effacing irony to it. Quite a nice bouquet actually.

Would it really be all that surprising? His mentor Roy Cohn was known to be both virulently homophobic and a pedophile of boys.

I kinda figure, at 70 years old, he's probably more concerned with having a decent bowel movement than anything sexual.

Good plan! Vote early and vote often!!

Kizr Khan has challenged Donald Trump to take a naturalization test.

Khan, who became a United States citizen after emigrating from Pakistan in 1980, issued the challenge on Monday in reaction to a Trump foreign policy address in Youngstown, Ohio, in which the businessman proposed instituting an ideological test to visa applicants before allowing them to enter the country. Under the test, Trump said, applicants would be subjected to “extreme, extreme vetting” in order to “screen out any who have hostile attitudes toward our country or its principles.”

Wonder if Trump will take him up on it and if so, just how badly will he fail?

That's kind of pointless. One of the freedoms I enjoy as a native born American is the freedom to be fundamentally ignorant about how the US government functions.
That's fine unless you want to run for office.

But if you are running for President, you should have some knowledge of how the Government functions.........

And if you want to be ignorant of the basic facts of how the Govrenment functions, fine, but then do us all a favor and don't vote.

No taxation without representation. I remember that one. Probably because of the bumper sticker format. But it means I get to vote - at least I think that's what it means.
