Ok. So to clarify -
Republic is just a form of government that has no monarch.
Democracy is a form of government in which the people elect their leadership.
The U.S. is a democratic republic.

If I remember my history correctly -- and it's been many long years -- the Articles of Confederation were much more Democratic with direct votes on almost everything, and the process quickly showed itself to be unworkable. That's why, in 1787, the Constitution was drafted to elect representatives to vote on legislation rather than a direct democracy.

The numbnuts who think "Republicans" are somehow closer to the idea of a Republic than the Democrats apparently have never heard of Whigs.

I saw that. But you are suggesting these teachers should have their benefits taken away. And you have no evidence an increase in taxes on the rich would end jobs or prevent job recovery. Yet in this case, jobs are going to be lost.

And the higher tax rates that supposedly cost jobs were in effect when employment was good n the Clinton years while the lower rates were in effect when the jobs tanked in the Bush years. And, if that isn't enough for you, back when this country saw its greatest economic boom post WWII, the rates on the rich were way higher.

So your evidence request is a fail.
