Judge Kaplan threatened to refer her for bar discipline in the E. Jean Carroll case. In that case, Habba not only violated Judge Kaplan's orders, she displayed considerable incompetence in trial practice by not knowing how to enter evidence. She was also an attorney of record in Donald Trump's rambling lawsuit against Hillary Clinton for alleged interference in the 2016 election that was summarily dismissed. This is why I say I would not trust Alina Habba's understanding of law or trial practice.

I've heard her referred to as a parking lot lawyer. I'm pretty sure that's not good.

Alina Habba was general counsel for a parking garage company owned by her husband. You can draw your own conclusions regarding whether that position was obtained on merits. Prior to representing Donald Trump, she had only three cases as lead attorney, no experience as a prosecutor, and no experience in criminal defense. By prevailing standards she is utterly unqualified to be a U.S. Attorney, even on an interim basis.

In a larger sense, "parking lot attorney" is a pejorative, much like "ambulance chaser," to indicate someone whose practice is mostly pursuing personal injury or vehicle liability claims, often in a somewhat predatory manner. Habba has never practiced in personal injury as far as I'm able to determine. However, the label may indicate her reputation within the legal community in New York and New Jersey.

1) This is no game. People's lives are at stake.

2) It's not some philosophical discussion for people to flex their centrist bona fides

3) Again, as an observer, you have a role to play here. You get to choose that role. And you have to live with your choice.

Like a legal right to be there prevents being arrested for refusing to leave when so ordered.

SO was she, she refused the lawful order to leave by ICE so she should be charged just like everyone else. But I see the charges being dropped is something you are skipping right over.

Congresswoman was not trespassing, she had a legal right to be there.
