This. In a continent-wide nation of a third of a billion, there's gonna be pockets of ******** that make trouble. It's unavoidable. But they don't have a pair of balls between them, and will drop their AR-15s and wet their pants at the first barrel pointed in their direction.
The only thing civilized society should really do preemptively is recalibrate our Paradox of Tolerance meters to Zero. After J6, they deserve no more "we'll take the high road" treatment. Treat insurrectionists like any other violent criminals.

If there is a civil war, it won't be young people that are behind it. It'll be a bunch of butt hurt mid-aged and old men that don't have the first clue what they're really intending to fight for. They'll lose all interest the first time they come up against any sort of advanced force and go home, if they still can.

I don't see that. The US is made up of semi-soverign states. A state can just vote to leave. No need for Irish troubles.

It'll be what you guys believed 2020 was but worse. It's safe to say it'll be mostly MAGA folks initiating the violence. It was once possible to deny violence or disown "lone wolf" perpetrators in one-off acts, but I think it's very possible violence could be condoned by major media talking heads this time. They stole it from Trump (again), we need to take our country back, blah blah. I think many people could lose their lives, thousands will get arrested, followed by contentious legal cases with extremist sympathizers criticizing the charges, etc.
I think that's the biggest "war" we'll have in this country.
