Hydrogen perpetual motion claims rear their head again

Hi.

I saw this:

http://joco913.com/news/blue-valley-senior-is-on-the-verge-of-a-quantum-leap-for-science/

What do you think? Obviously, I'm pretty sure it's not going to work. They don't seem to get that quantum mechanics obeys the laws of Conservation of Energy.

Well, the first obvious red flag is this:
Seven provisional patents protect the enticing technology that has spawned two companies of his own making.

It’s laden with secret ingredients
Patents require you to disclose everything required to make a device work. Either he has patents, or he has secrets. Can't have both. Claiming both is, however, amazingly common among free energy crackpots.

Other than that, the article is completely devoid of any actual science so there's not really anything that can be specifically criticised. As far as I can tell, it's just some school kid who has no idea how his nonsense would actually work, he just thinks it should be possible to work it out in the future because of mumblemubleresonancemumblequantum. Hopefully he'll grow out of it once he gets to university and learns how the real world actually works.

I.e. learns enough physics to see that this kind of thing just plain don't fly, right?

BLIS is currently perfecting a system for the production of hydrogen gas on demand for use in internal combustion engines that will provide a suitable alternative to the current fossil fuel standard.

Through our revolutionary technologies we have developed a hydrogen on-demand system that produces energy for combustion engines at astronomical efficiency rates. This system breaks water in to its elemental components very economically so that it can be on board a vehicle or utilized at low energy levels for other applications.

Wow! :D

He only claims to have provisional patent applications, which in fact are kept secret (not published).

Of course, a provisional application can't protect anything, since a provisional application has to be converted to a nonprovisional and then granted by the Patent Office before it can be asserted against anyone.

Making a lot of bold claims...sounds familiar...

BLIS Resonance is a company specializing in cutting edge environmental technologies. Through our patented methods we have released an economical, clean, renewable and powerful energy that would provide a feasibly alternative to fossil fuel usage while still being more powerful than any other green alternative currently available.

Says he has patents.

He designed a system that can run off the existing electrical power source in a car, so that the creation of hydrogen can take place on board, as needed. He now has seven patents on the technology he designed and is the CEO of two companies.

Uh oh...

His current business, Blis Resonance, will sell technology and the rights to the apparatus he designed.

He will be focusing on his second company, Scope Innovation, which sells patents.

Yeah, that's another red flag. You have a goose that lays golden eggs, why wouldn't you just sell the eggs? It's more in keeping with a claim to have a goose that lays golden eggs. Would you like to buy a share in this goose?

He's branched out into farming and livestock now?

See my sig. I was making one of those.

He claims he's got a free energy machine, but his business model is to sell rights to the machine, not to sell energy at a huge profit.

I think those cars use hydrogen to create electricity. He uses that electricity to then create more hydrogen?

I've seen something similar on YouTube videos for regular gasoline cars. The claim is that using electricity (generated from burning the gasoline but imagined as if it were simply free wasted energy as a byproduct of the engine running) to produce hydrogen which is then fed into the air intake can result in 100 mpg.

That is the claim. Unfortunately, due to those pesky laws of physics, no one has been able to substantiate that under non-fraudulent, repeatable laboratory conditions.

In a youtube of this claim, the guy came up with his hyperbolic mpg calculations by filling the tank, then driving about 10 miles and topping it off!

Yes. It never seems to occur to them that turning that alternator under load is hard work, and the more current you demand, the harder that work becomes. (And the quicker you kill your alternator)
