But you fail to realize that the right wing in the country was similar to the Chavez regime if not worse. The whole country has a problem with corruption and nepotism. Even crappy U.S. backed regimes were crappy. Chavez was just a kick back against the U.S. nothing more. The same thing is happening across South America. South Americans are by and large tired of American intervention. Chavez is just a small part of this total picture.

You're right. The opposition has put in a superhuman effort trying to run against the socialists and being stymied at every turn. Like when Capriles ran against a Chavista and was elected mayor of Miranda, the socialists cut the budget to the region and cut off the water to the poor areas. It's a good thing he's such a smart person and could do more with less than the previous corrupt and incompetent socialist mayor. The socialists also tried to intimidate him with their thugs and boot-boys. They called him a Jew and gay in the media.

I don't wish to denigrate the efforts of these brave people who oppose the socialists and their thugs.

This guy is now accused by the socialists of poisoning Chavez.

The opposition aren't saints, but they are vastly better. Not that it's hard.
