Huckabee Attacks Natalie Portman...

I can cut through the Gordian knot for you by explaining that all of that stuff is meaningless. Leave Natalie Portman and leave the offspring of the Palins alone and stop behaving like twats.

Seriously! Stop behaving like Twats!

No. It is the only thing I've yet mastered in life.

Rubbish!

Leave those idiots out of it!

Yea Bristol is a shining example of how abstinence only education works wonderfully. It destroys lives by being the best thing that ever happened to them.

If she hadn't started pushing political agenda's around teen pregnancy she wouldn't be as acceptable a target.

Didn't some pundit or politician or other make the exact same sort of comments back in the 1990s about some female sitcom character who was a single mother? I forget the specifics, but the general situation seems very familiar...

Well, he had one thing right:

Huckabee, a Baptist minister who ran for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination, said when wealthy actresses have children without being married, they set a bed example for the rest of America.

Dude, does he not realize that she's ENGAGED? To the father of her baby no less?

Granted, Bristol was in the same boat and ended up unmarried and a single mother, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that Ms. Portman will end up in that boat, but right now she is still engaged to the father of the child she is carrying; once they marry, it takes care of that pesky issue, even if she has the kid before the wedding.

For being a part of the Star Wars prequel trilogy, I say she had it coming.

Can Huckabee spell Potato?:D

Dan Quale decided to make a fictional charachter -- Murphy Brown -- a symbol of what was wrong with liberal America.

I understand his point, though I question whether or not people are using her to say because she's a single mom and doesn't have money problems that a lot of single mom's don't have a lot of money problems. Is anyone doing that? Didn't think so.

For balance, here's Huck on Bristol Palin:

“It ought to be a reminder that here is a family that loves one another. They stuck with each other though the tough times and that’s what families do." ... Huckabee said the surprise pregnancy announcement should not affect vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s support in the conservative and religious right communities. ... “I’m grateful for the way she’s being supported by her family."

Natalie Portman is not a single mother, she has her boyfriend to take care of her child.

Huckabee's opposition to her situation has nothing to do with her being a "single" parent, it's because she had sex outside a religious marriage.

Huckabee should come to Québec, and see that unmarried parents are doing fine.

ETA: on second thought, no, he shouldn't come here.

Well there's the difference you see. Bristol has her family and Portman was born from a rock or Zeus' head or something.

So, in other words, Natalie Portman is a goddess. Thanks for stating the obvious, Mike. ;)

Well now we have established that it's alright to turn out to be a single mother if you have a supportive family, but not if you're a goddess. So Huckabee isn't against single mothers, but goddesses*. This shows you what a principled Christian he is.

*I refuse to have the term confused with the way Cuck Sheen has been using it, and am using it the way a sane, uncoked mind does.

He... uh, I guess it's clarified: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/03/04/huckabees-problem-with-natalie-portman/#more-149072
"There aren't really a lot of single moms out there that are making millions of dollars each year by being in a movie," Huckabee said. "I think it gives a distorted image that not everybody hires nannies and caretakers and nurses. Most single moms are very poor, uneducated, can't get a job, and if it weren't for government assistance, their kids would be starving to death and would not get healthcare."
So... I guess she's a bad example cause other single mothers are poor. Or something. His clarification means that whatever point he was trying to make is either minor ("don't do things you can't afford") or stupid ("Rich people shouldn't do things poor people can't afford.").

Next up we should stick him in a tank with a ridiculous hat while screaming into a noise reducing microphone.

Good argument for continued funding of Planned Parenthood.

Yes, most single mothers don't make millions a year. But Portman does. She's doing what's best for her. Furthermore, she's not even a single mother. She's not advising people that to become single mothers, and I haven't heard anyone use her as an example for how single motherhood works.
