I was going to make a comparison of this thread to a game of Kerplunk, where, instead of marbles, occasionally a fortune cookie containing some short bit of vapid banality drops down. Sadly, I think you're wrong. Even practical jokers, that detestabke breed, would not come up with something as asinine as that...

To interpret this as a practical joke, we'd have to believe the joker's IQ is less than 80.

So yeah, it might well be a practical joke.
