I think it's a simple matter of effort leads to reward. The more effort, the bigger the reward. For example, a billionaire works at over ten thousand times harder in a year than I do.

IMO many conservatives live in a fantasy where they imagine they are the hardest workers and that is why they are successful.

They ignore they often had significant help to get where they are and started with money behind them. The worst ones are those who rise up through a company and then behave as if the company was their creation and that they are uniquely able to run it.
