Whereas you believe in everything without exception? Do you believe in voodoo or witchcraft? I'm not listing these examples to make fun of your belief, I'm using them because they're all things countless people walk around believing. All around the world. Today. Saudi-Arabia, I think it was, executed an alleged witch this month.

There's no such thing as a "non-believer" or "believer". All of us have countless things we don't believe in, and we disbelieve, mostly, for the same reason: lack of evidence.

Let's say you don't believe that there's intelligent life on Mars. You probably don't. Sure, there's probably people who will say they're certain that there's a race of intelligent aliens hiding under the planet's surface, but they're a tiny minority. Why not? Because of a lack of evidence.

This is why I hate it when people try to make up all kinds of excuses for why we don't subscribe to their unproven beliefs. "Don't believe in God? You're just denying Him because you want to sin as much as we want!". Or, "everyone know ghosts aren't real, you're just so terrified of them that you pretend they don't exist!", or, "you're not really a 9/11 sceptic, you're a paid FBI shill trying to hide the truth!".

It's this simple: without evidence, we don't believe. Without evidence, we won't start believing in God more than you'll suddenly start believing in Zeus for no reason.

I think a more accurate formulation would be that Marx / Engels took some biblical teachings, replaced god with the proletariat added some economic seasoning and voila: Proletariat Pie!

Then some nasty politicians grab the pie, convince the serfs this is what they need, and voila: the USSR!

Most Christians don't like this tale. You start with Jesus and you wind up with the USSR? Doesn't go down well at all.

Politicians pervert everything! :)

I notice in quotes (RP is now in the ignore file), that RP states that he read 'Flim-Flam' and then goes on to note that Popoff is still in business.

What's the connection here? Flim-Flam has nothing about Popoff. It was written about 6-7 years before Randi's expose of that fraud.

The Faith Healers, on the other hand, has all the details on Popoff. I also cannot see how anyone can read TFH and give any kind of support to Popoff unless they are trolling.
