How did Chaim Levine become Chuck Lorre?

well, i just used this example as it relates to a hot current topic.. but the issue is more than just a a name change.

we have second generation hindus- eating meat:eek:
"muslim" not participating in Shalah (daily prayer)
"catholics" not observing lent.. lol

there appears to be a homogenization of culture not only in the US but around the world.. i find it hilarious how people from New Jersey think its the "new" Southern California..

There was a paradigm shift in communications circa 1999-2001 where the world government felt it was the last opportunity to grab complete control before the proliferation of cell phone cameras and online video.. the events of 911 where necessary to eradicate a true potential "classical" liberal revolution. 911 was used as a trigger mechanism to capture the minds of billions of people around the world. the command struture is sending a code to trigger impulses sent by current wireless signals (cdma, gms, iden, dtec) as a form of population control. HAARP is part of the issue as moon cycles and pacific ocean temperature phenomena create loopholes in the system.

the point is that the hollywood power struture is a key element in the world command force by using coercive messaging to "round up the sheeple".. Chuck Lorre is a very powerful figure we should all fear.

Dude, that's just what I was thinking.

I have Hindu friends who eat meat, their parent's eat meat and their relations in India eat meat. I have a Jewish colleague who eats Pork sausages and bacon. I have catholic relatives who haven't been to church since they were babptised. are they being 'Americanised'? They live in Yorkshire, they barely hold any allegiance to England.

It also doesn't explain his brother, who was fairly successful in the 80s despite using his real name.

You could argue that his brother is evidence that it wasn't necessary for Charlie to change his name, but at the time, C. Sheen might have thought more doors would be opened by riding on his father's coattails.

Also, your counterargument assumes that the two brothers have equal acting skills.

ETA: furthermore children use all kinds of reasons in deciding whether or not to take their fathers' names. he might have wanted to show respect for his father, he might have wanted to annoy his brother, etc.

Well, I really brought Emilio because I wanted to mention the fantastic 'stache he was sporting on an interview he did with their father on the BBC (though I forgot to actually do so).

But Martin pushed open doors for his sons regardless of what names they used. They are both pretty terrible as actors. However, using the Sheen name probably did help get Charlie cast in Platoon, and by extension Wall Street, where he was put in the hands of a director who could use his weak acting skills to present a relatable everyman.

As I recall, Emilio kept his name to honor is mother, which let's you know the level of intellect involved with this family. Esteves is her married name, you moron! It is also possible that being blonde, he felt he was less likely to be typecast into Latino roles.

My understanding is that it's fairly common for Jewish families in America -- even "secular Jews" -- to give children a "Hebrew name" that isn't part of the name on their birth certificate, but is used during ceremonies, etc. Often (though not always), the first name is an anglicized version of the Hebrew name, or otherwise similar. So Lorre may have always had the "Hebrew name" Chaim without it ever being his "legal" name.

only Orthodox Jews have their Hebrew name being their actual legal name.

I have two names, my legal name and my Hebrew name.

But my Hebrew name is only used in religious ceremonies, which being a secular Jew...means once every 10 years.

:)

When my great-grandfather came from Sweden, they changed Johansen to Johnson just because the dude at Ellis Island couldn't spell the former or understand the heavy accent.

Names are like clothes, eh? You always wear the one that suits the occasion.

Speaking of which, I guess now is the right time to admit that "Chaos" isn´t actually my real name.

i respect orthodox religious jews that proudly wear a yarmulke.. it is sad when quasi religious people of all faiths cherry pick which aspects they will honor

A friend's grandfather changed his last name from Bruno to Brown when he arrived in Canada.

OMG!!1!!1!!!1
A conspiracy to Canadianize the world!!1!!11!!!!!:)

My Grandfather changed his first and middle names from Francis Laverne to Frank Leo.

Of, course he was a criminal (prohibition bootlegger and minor member of the Capone organization), ran out on my Grandma before my dad was born and was never seen again after 1950.

On the plus side, I get to call my dad a bastard.

oh, should I have mentioned that my Hebrew name and my English name, are pretty much the same name?

:D

What was wrong with Charles Levine? He changed from that to Chuck Lorre? Well... he did go into producing comedy so...

Dolph Lundgren can't use that excuse though, changing from the perfectly respectable "Hans" to such a cheesy name is borderline criminal. Pff, americanized twats.

Anywhooo, according to some observations there seems to be a lot less of 'that' kind of assimilation going on today. I noticed, for example, Mike (Myron Leon) Wallace's son David changed back to the original family name; Wallechinsky.

It's not Chaim Levine we have to worry about. When Chaim Witz comes to town, lock up your daughters.

Natalie Hershalg - Natalie Portman
Archibald Alexander Leach - Cary Grant
Farookh Bulsara - Freddie Mercury
Hey Hey - Lassie
Rush Limbaugh - Jeff Christie
David Robert Jones - David Bowie
Marina Ann Hantzis - Sasha Grey
etc...

And I've heard stories about semi-litterate immigration officials that americanized names out of pure ignorance.
-Name?
-José Herridas.
-Welcome to the US of A, Joe Herring.
