House Impeachment Inquiry

Is he calling the constitution phony, or is he alleging that the complaint against him is pseudo constitutional and phony?

It seems like your rebuttal depends on begging the question.

I can only go by what he says. He called the impeachment clause phony. The adjective phony modified the noun clause.

I guess it's the ole' Navy IT in me but what bugs me the most is they stormed in with their personal electronics.

The space in question is what is called a SCIF, a secure area for discussing potentially sensitive of classified information. Personally owned electrioncs are a bid no-no in them.

But .. her emails!

That reminds me of an issue I haven't seen mentioned.

Someone who asks a personal "favor" of a foreign national puts themselves in a compromising situation of owing a favor to the foreign national or being blackmailed. That could make them a security risk and likely to loose their access to classified information.

Good afternoon JoeMorgue.

Not only should all of their phones be confiscated and examined for any recordings made inside that room but they should clear the room and bring in the appropriate teams to sweep the room to insure that no listening devices have been left behind.
How sad is it that these particular GOP members show zero concern for national security?
ETA: If this is such a super secret secure room, how is it that anyone can just wander into it during a hearing? No lock on the door? No guards? Clearly a stunt on the GOP's part and an attempt to intimidate a witness , which is really the goal here.

Zelensky is just trying to keep himself alive. He would never, ever try to blackmail Trump. If Trump were evaluated for a security clearance the way a regular person would be, he'd never get one.

They know he won't be convicted. The issue is spin, and nothing else.

Trump's presidency might go down as legitimising criminal activities at the highest level. That's end-of-democracy level stuff.

Just read an article prediting the democracy will not survive the information age because the information age has made political splintering much worse.

If I was Pelosi, I'd order the Capitol Police to arrest them like any protester interfering with a Congressional hearing.

That would look terrible.
I think at times you dislike of Republicans really does blind you to reality.
And the GOPers look bad enough as it is. except for their base, it looks like a dumbass political stunt.

Emoluments /nitpick

I assumed that's exactly what they will do at some point. I had read an article that someone was talking to the Sargent at Arms previously. I haven't followed up in awhile.

According to CNN the deposition is underway. No word yet on if further disruptions are expected but my gut is telling me this won't be the last stunt we see.

It's not because of dislike. At all. I would probably release them in an hour and drop the charges. Maybe you're right, maybe it would look terible. Better to make them look ineffectual.

I'm concerned that the Democrats are acting weak.

One of these boner pills actually posted a twitter update from inside the SCIF:

Rep. Alex Mooney, R-W.Va., even posted on Twitter what he called an audio "report from inside the SCIF."

Next sentence though:

But, at the end of his recording, Mooney claims he is on a "secure phone," and did indeed give up his cellphone as required.

So it looks like someone is snagging cell phones.

WTF is a secure phone? And it doesn't matter anyway: He’s *tweeting,* for crying out loud. That’s not a stealth activity.

WTF is a secure phone?
I think some government phones have extra protections...

Certain apps removed that could cause security holes, software installed for doing secure communications, special modifications to the operating system to prevent things like unauthorized information being leaked (such as GPS coordinates.)

I am not sure if congress critters would have that, but it is a possibility.

Good afternoon plague

Every one of them that entered the SCIF with a phone should have whatever security clearance they have revoked.
