It bothers me that she's been strategic in one breathe but idealistic in the next with no rhyme or reason.

It's "We have to do the right thing no matter the cost!" out of one side of her mouth and "We have to be smart and play the game" out of the other.

So you just don't understand her reasoning then? Because a whole bunch of us are really happy with the actions she has taken so far.

No. I don't agree with it. On a personal level I never got the impression that Pelosi was all that big on impeachment and I don't for a second buy the "Well I was against it but then some indefinable line got crossed and we had no choice" narrative. That's a politician trying to please their entire base talking.

And stop doing the whole "You disagree with me, ergo you just don't understand because if you understood obviously you'd agree with me" thing.

Could you, no matter how hard it is for you for some reason, just pretend you live in a world where other intelligent, thinking people can just disagree with you?
 
How much fun will the State of the Union be if Trump is still under the process of an impeachment process when he gives it? Watching the GOP squirm while he rants like an inbred syphilitic king might even get some deplorables to stay home.

I did not say that. I said you don't understand Pelosi's reasoning because you have said so multiple times.

That's what "no rhyme or reason means", unless you'd like to redefine that.

Trump could admit to crimes, hell commit crimes, during the State of the Union. Cartoonish, but totally on brand for the Trump GOP. Anything that the low information demo can't miss/ignore there has utility.

I think the vehement teeth-gnashing of some posters stems from the conviction that Pelosi has made a massive mistake and has given GOP types ammunition.

To me it seems perfectly reasonable to regroup after the holidays.

And if it's such a win for the GOP, why is Trump still obsessing about it?

It doesn't matter. Every answer I could possibly give has already been pre-rejected.

I wouldn't be starting and then stopping the impeachment process for two directly contradictory reasons.

And I wouldn't be trying to take out Trump politically and legally at the same time so our efforts to do one undercut our efforts to do the other and vice versa.

But again it doesn't matter. Everything the Democrats aren't doing has already been dismissed as "unrealistic" while everything they are doing isn't held to the same standards.

In the end I just hope it works out by some miracle. Again sooner or later this "Just be patient, this is all being to something" bubble will burst... or it won't.
 
Just a reminder that this impeachment is a nothingburger, born of desperation and all over but the shouting. There is no hope, so forget about it and have a Happy New Year!!!

Okay, so that leaves you with two basic options.

A. Not start the impeachment process at all.
B. Send the impeachment to the senate, given that Mitch said up front that he was going to do whatever Trump wanted.

Which of those would you prefer?

A. I'm still team "This impeachment is handing Trump 2020 on a silver platter."

B is just an excuse since Mitch being Trump's boot licking toadie isn't some new information (and yes that includes any and all "but we didn't know he'd be this bad/blatant about it" variations, yes we all goddamn did) that just got introduced to the scenario that shouldn't already have been accounted for.

You can't separate starting a process and the process's end if everyone involved in the discussion agrees it's an inevitability.

The media, who is being played by the GOP, appears to always believe whatever the GOP says the narrative is when it comes to these kinds of things. No matter what the Democrats do, it's a mistake and emboldens the GOP. The reality is that impeachment is hurting Trump and the GOP quite a bit. Their numbers are dwindling, but you only hear about how the "base" is stronger and more energized. Sure, Trump has above 85% of Republican support, but Republicans only make up around 25-30% of the electorate anymore.

The distinction I am concerned with is Trump winning or Trump losing.

The distinction between "Trump winning" and "Trump winning but the Democrats impressing us all with how hard they fought or scoring some moral victory" is not.

I don't want to look back with fondness on how hard the Democrats fought Trump, how noble they were in defeat, and how much they stuck to their guns during the fight.

I want them to win.

Sorry guys but the "Rocky" ending isn't good enough, we need "Rocky II"
