Hojo Motor: WTF?

So I'm assuming the Hojo motor is a scam.

Wait, is this about the spinning wheel of fixed magnets? I've always wanted to know more about those.

The magnetic field lets the wheel spin with little resistance, but it doesn't generate any torque, does it? It can't turn a turbine without torque. And even assuming that it can, don't magnets demagnetize over time?


And this thread is on page 2 of a search for "hojo motor is a scam." We can do better.

That would mean that the Hojo motor is a scam.:eek:

That would make those people trying to sell the plans for the Hojo motor scammers.

It's getting so you can't trust anyone anymore; leastwise Hojo motor scammers.

Wouldn't free energy be cool? Too bad there's no such thing, and it's a real shame that the Hojo motor is a scam.

Anyone who knows anything about science knows that the Hojo motor and others before it are scams, it's just a pity not everyone takes the time to educate themselves about the notion of free energy and what makes it impossible as we understand the universe.

I'm guessing such scams are becoming increasingly prevalent (Perendev, Tesla and so on) because of the economic climate. People see energy prices rising and become desperate to believe that it is possible to get something for nothing, especially when it's presented with such apparently convincing stories by the people who perpetuate the scams. And the people who believe the stories tend to be the same people who believe that everything is in some way a conspiracy to keep them in the dark ages.

Free energy machines fascinate me, because they show the psychological behaviours of those who believe in them beautifully. Especially when those people refuse to listen to any reason and refuse to use common sense. They're absolutely brilliant, and I would not know as much about physics without them because I've done so much personal research into various physics areas to help me understand what's gong on. Long may it last :D

It's very difficult to 'hear' the tone with which a person is writing. As a result I don't know whether to nominate this for a 'pithy' or a 'stundie'. It's a real dilemma.

Depending on how you set it up, you could get it to exert a torque. The problem is that the only way to do this is to have it exert a torque one way in some positions and the other way in other positions. So no net torque over a cycle, and no net work is possible.

And even assuming that it can, don't magnets demagnetize over time?

Permanent magnets can have ridiculously long lifetimes, and energy conservation can't be violated even if they last forever. So that's not the problem.

Unfortunately, that's not how the laws of nature work. Conservation of Energy is a bit more than just a guideline. And, no, those neutrinos didn't exceed the speed of light.

Nothing which carries information can travel faster than light. That has not been proven an error. Things which transmit no information can travel faster than light without violating relativity.

Oh, and your device won't work. You've got an arrangement which works in a straight line, but will fail if you try to turn it into a loop.

The laws of nature are more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules. Straight out of a Pirates of the Caribbean movie. well played.

Just in case you are serious : law of conservation are much more than guideline.... In fact they are a *mathematical* direct consequence of a few basic fundamental principle in conservative fields... For more info see Noether's theorem.

I am baffled. How did you ever convince yourself that this contraption "violates conservation of energy"? You have two magnets, one on a rotor and another on a stator. (Yes, they're complex magnet assemblies rather than single magnets. I don't care.) You pull them apart, and magnetic forces pull them back together. That's it. That's the same physics as slapping a pizzeria's phone number up on your refrigerator.

All you've done is constrain the path that the stator can follow---instead of moving in a straight line, it has to rotate as it goes. After the normal, boring, energy-conserving magnetic force has pulled your magnets together, you have to reach in with your normal, boring, energy-conserving hands and pull them apart.

You are now officially Inventor #10,002 to mistake "two magnets move together" for "free energy". If you had learned anything from the previous 10,001 you could have saved yourself a bundle on NdFeB.
 
Oh good, another magnet-based perpetual motion scam!

The Hojo motor scam is still filling page 1 of the search results for "Hojo motor scam" for the time being. I hope most people are smart enough to realise that the Hojo motor scam is nothing more than a way of unfairly parting people from their money.

So I guess the consensus is:

The Hojo motor is a scam.

The Hojo motor plans are worthless.

The Hojo motor will not work.

The Hojo motor is an example of the impossible 'free energy' machine.

And, of course, no one should waste their money on bunk such as the Hojo motor.

Yes. I will have to agree that the Hojo motor is a proven scam, in fact the HoJo motor is a well documented scam.
This thread contains many reason why the Hojo motor is a scam.
 
All magnetic motor are scam, and the hojo motor is a scam among many. I mean those people are only fooling themselves when trying to construct a hojo motor is a scam :
* law of conservation (if you found a counter example of this , like with the hojo motor scam, then it would be revolutionary)
* not really making good input/output balance of energy , thus facilitating hojo motor scam.

So hojo motor is definitively a scam.

Ok I am buying the plans and I want this thread to help me build it... you are my crew... so there is no 'illegal reproduction'.
