Hitler 'died in Argentina'

All of this is known to biographers of Hitler, but not apparantly to sensation mongers. Eva was also identified in a similar fashion. The idea that there were Hitler doubles goes back to rumours of Hitler escaping in the 1950s. All of this is part of the post war mythos concerning Hitler. There is a fascinating book about it called Hitler The Survival Myth.

But, but, er, .... what about all the Hitler clone boys? From Brazil?

This, I think, encapsulates the thread...from Keeper: "I haven't studied this in any depth but it would appear that the evidence for the accepted truth is fairly limited ..."

You are aware that the Russians found what was left of the bodies of Hitler and Eva Braun. How do we know this? Because the forensic reports of the analysis of the body parts were kept secret for over 20 years. There are various books that discuss the Soviet atopsy of Hitler and Eva along with Josef and Mrs Goebbels, and their six children who they murdered before commiting suicide. Hitler was identified by his dental records.

Thanks Pacal, that's most interesting - and would explain the apparent consensus amongst most Historians.

Here's the book Pacal recommends...

You're not fooling me. I saw movies, you know. No one can follow a plane once it's off the runway.

Yes but first the plane would have to make it down the "runway" which according to some reports was barely wide enough for a tank, let alone a transport plane. ;)

I know that this is an old thread and died an inglorious death last year (perhaps like Hitler, hmmm?) but I have recently encountered the author, Gerrard Williams, on Facebook. He's a friend of one of my friends and used to work for a defunct news agency at which I used to work.

My friend has been posting "advertising" exhorting people to purchase, first his hardcover book, now his paperback, and soon his movie. I have read all the reviews on the book and had been biting my tongue on commenting in respect to my friend.

But recently my friend asked for his friends' opinions on the book, so I jumped in with a comment something like, "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence". That brought Mr. Williams, himself, to the discussion and he is now a "friend" of mine on FB. He even sent me a copy of the ebook for me to read and I have to say that the evidence hasn't gotten any better.

1) Not only did Hitler survive the war, but he eventually made it to Argentina and fathered two daughters, though no one has met them as of yet, leave alone done a DNA test on them.

2) The submarine that supposedly took Hitler to Argentina was sunk by the Americans months before his alleged escape. The authors cast doubt on this because we don't have physical proof it was actually sunk.

3) The pilot that was supposed have flown Hitler to the submarine base is missing and it is questionable whether he existed.

4) Bormann did not die in the war and helped Hitler escape to South America and the body that was discovered in Berlin is a conspiracy by the German government to hide the fact that he escaped.

I could go on, but it is my hope that the Skeptical Inquirer will do an article on this under conspiracy theories.

His entire evidence is really a lack of evidence. No body of Hitler (the Soviets lied), no Submarine, no evidence.

And he's a journalist.

I asked Barry Karr at CFI if they would do an article in "Skeptical Inquirer".

You write well enough here, and frankly writing an article or review differs very little from what I've seen you write here in the forum. Maybe a little longer than your average post, but otherwise writing's writing.

Thanks, maybe I will.
